Well there are two type of people that work at any company... The true believers and those just there because they view it as a good job, or the best job they can have at the moment.

Aside from Charlie and probably a few others, most would fall into the good job/best they can get at the moment category.

Excellent response Mike 123abc. !!

Is Echostar any more than just "Charlie" ???
I would imagine that there are approx. 20% of very competent and dedicated, professional people there.

Would this be considered a good place for carreer growth at any level?

Eh, why not? I've gotten lured into POS jobs with stuff worse than that :p

If they offer a great remuneration package and good benefits, I'd be more than be happy to join. I don't care about anything else, a job's purpose is to pay the bills.

Damn right I would!

My job would be Chief of Signal Verification. I would roam the country measuring signal strength and integrity for all CONUS and spot beams.

"Can you see me now?" :D :D :D

I have one condition though, and that is that I can keep my DirecTV/TiVo and do not have to use their product.

Why not? I think it would be fun. Charlie said in an interview on PBS that he wanted to work on data and farmers having access to their local programming. Maybe they want people with IP experience.
