After a week of enjoying my 721 I have come across a few things that I would like to address. Nothing major, just annoyances or quirks that I would like to confirm as to whether that's "just the way it is" AND see if anyone has any inside dope as to whether they are being addressed by E*.

1) RECORDED EVENT RESUME - my 501 seemed more context sensitive in this instance. If you had been watching a recorded event, stopped watching and then went back the RESUME button was highlighted by default...so you couild simply SELECT. Seems the 721 always highlights the START OVER button by default.

2) PIP SWAP - seems that it would be nice if you did not have to select PIP and then SWAP. If you already knew what channels were tuned on each tuner simply being able to SWAP would, in effect, give you a double-dose of previous channel"

3) ERASE PVR EVENT - When I erase a PVR event I seem to always get a full screen of the live feed with a transparent overlay of the PVR EVENTS screen. This is even though the upper-right-corner window is in place.

4) PVR EVENT TIME REMAINING - Whe you FFD or RWD the 721 displays where you are in the program - yet when you select CANCEL the time remaining always displays 00 minutes.

5) HOPES FOR FUTURE PROGRAM-BASED RECORDING??? - I notice that when I do recording, using the default start 1 minute early and end 3 minutes late timer pads, that for at least the first minute and last 3 minutes the recording includes time from the previous and next programs. I see in the PVR list that the PVR event is titled with the correct program title, yet the info banner begins and ends displaying the previous and next program names. If I remember right the 501 did NOT do this - it only reflected the program name of the event that was supposed to be recorded, regardless of how early or late you had the timer run.

6) PAUSE-TIME INDICATOR - the time remaining info bar covers WAAAY too much of the bottom of the screen. If you were pausing a program in order to better see something that was at the bottom, you'd be SOL cuz it would be covered.

7) TRANSPARENCY PREFERENCES - I can't see where or how the selections of HIGH, MEDIUM and OFF make ANY difference on any screen.

8) CANCELLING OUT OF MENUS - with the 501 I used to get a little aggravated having to CANCEL out of so many menu layers. I know you can press VIEW and get all the way out but you had to go to a completely different button in order to do this. Not that big a deal, I know. But now you have no choice...when you select CANCEL you do get dumped all the way out to live TV. There are enough times, at least here in the beginning, when Iwould have like to at least stay at the main menu for additional selections.

Well guys, thanks for listening. I wonder what any of you 721 owners might think of these items. Also, please let me know if maybe I am doing something wrong or missing something. ( it actually HAS happened before...just ask my wife)

Other than that I have been VERY happy with the 721. No PROBLEMS at all, so far...

I don't think that there is a lack of interest from anyone regarding this subject, its just all the other 721 owners reported the same things months ago.

I love my 721 even with its quirks.
