Well, i needed a new line to my sun porch ran, so i call D* and they say they'll do it for free. It is scheduled for the 24th of July. That day comes I get a call saying it has been canceled and i have to re-schedule, I make it for August 4th. Then not an hour after the installer arrives and says he's here to install a 3LNB dish and run a line?? I tell him that thats wrong and i rescheduled, but he said he'll do the line run.

Now i had a WB68 and he did not want to cascade 2 multiswitches (i wanted a WB616 anyway) but he didnt have one cause it wasnt on the work order, so he told me to wait till the August 4th Install. This guy also called the installer office, and specifically told them that i needed a WB616 right in front of me.

August 4th comes. The tech comes out, he also thinks he is installing a 3LNBdish. I said no and explained everything to this guy. He ran the line though and cascaded a 3x4 multiswitch off the WB68 and then told me to call D* to arrange for the WB616. I did and they told me the installer that did my install the previous day would come in the next day or two with the new multiswitch.

Today he came early in the morning like around 9 to my door saying he installed the WB616. I didnt even know he was out there. I was sleeping. I told him okay, and he just left.

When i go to look at the multiswitch i see it TACTED THERE on the side of my house with the tacts you use to tact the RG6 cable to a wall.! No screw what so ever. I also see the PI is just sitting out leaning on a pipe coming from my generator and its wire is strapped down to that pie going to an outlet.rather than the room where i specifically have a cable for it ready going out to the switch. All the cables are in the front row on the WB616 so i couldnt even get to the back row. And to top things off my dishes grounding wire is hanging out there in the middle of no where not connected to anything!

I moved the PI to where i wanted it(i still need a UPS for it though) and moved the cables to the back row...but i couldnt do much a bout the tacts cause i wasnt set to drill into a concrete wall at the time. Afterwards I call D* and now they have a report out and someone is calling me tomorrow to find a day to fix everything.

I JUST DONT GET THIS! I never had a problem like this with D* EVER!!. Since when can an installer come to a house and do something and notify the person after he is done??

Some of your technical terms are not exact,
However, I feel your pain. I have seen fast CATV guys make all the outside connections before knocking on the door.....most of the time they are finished and the work is done correctly. That is how cable works.
Satellite work requires a door knock & a conversation.
But, as an installer on the way out, I see such a micromanaged pack of well meaning screw ups riding around in the white & blue vans that it is embarrassing to mention exactly what I do.......I fix phones & satellite dishes and can move the outlets around.
Sad thing, aside from the money going up in smoke, is the notion that
these guys really think they are doing something.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
