That particular "challenge" is the basis of DirecTV's current lawsuit against COMCAST

I just got Comcast's HD DVR yesterday. While the DVR's GUI is clunky and far inferior to the HR-20, I must say that the picture quality of the national HD is on par with that of D*.

The local channels in HD are a mixed bag though. My local NBC affiliates PQ is supirior on Comcast than D*. The thing I dont understand is that the Comcast signal is even better than my OTA feed as well. The image is much sharper and has more contrast and chroma.

Unfortunatly Comcast doesn't even offer FOX in HD. There is "FOX widescreen" but its definatly not HD. Go figure.....
