Sorry, I am unfamiliar with a lot of terminology used around here. I saw on the Food Network HD thread that someone said they wished they would do a simulcast and I was wondering what that meant.

That usually means the SD and HD channels are showing the same programming at the same time, like espn does with ch 73 and 206. :)
simulcast: simultaneous broadcast (or telecast)
A program or event that is broadcast simultaneously via two (or
more) different electronic mediums, i.e., radio + tv, or SD + HD.

In this context, as mcbeevee said, its SD and HD identical programming. In the old days, it used to mean you could tune your radio to station WXYZ, and listen to the audio through your sound system at the same time it was being broadcast on tv to get much better sound.

yup the L.A. lakers always had simulcast of their games on T.V. and RADIO. i'm not sure if they still do that nowadays.

You think you're getting old. I remember when our local PBS TV station would simulcast the audio on their stereo FM station.
