Any New offerings headed our way in the terms of 'regular' channels? Not Shopping or International Channels. I would like to see "Goodlife TV" and "VH1-Country" and other Themed Music Channels. Anyone have any ideas?

The NBA channel on 560. This is the one being produced as a result of the new NBA deal.

Saw the web site for good life TV. So, that's where some of those good shows went that I keep hearing about but never see.

Of course, I'm still hoping for West coast feeds of several more channels.

Also don't forget the NHL channel, whenever that comes out. And temp ch 982, Holiday Music will be once again up until the middle of January

Trust me, I'm counting down the days until Holiday Music, I think every person on this forum knows that.
And as far as I know Holiday Music is coming on tommrow.
At least that's what it said on the Holiday Music forum thread.

Please don't dream of YES you guys. YES would demand over $1 from EVERY DISH SUBSCRIBER, regardless of if they are in market for the programming. It's robbery. (at least this is how I understand what I've heard about the contract they wanted DISH to sign, I don't know for sure)

Heh.... I wonder of Geoge Steinbrenner is going to find a loophole in the sports rules and try to offer YES nationwide....

That's a waste of satellite capacity and bandwidth, IMO. They invented PVR's so people wouldn't need the west coast feeds...

Maybe in future PVR's they could have an automatic "pseudo west coast" feed set up, where the PVR is simply buffering east coast programming 3 hours behind.

According to Dish's own complience reports, only 5% of their STB population is a PVR. That leaves 95% of people without PVR capability. I am one of the 5%.

You are posting from New York which is located in the Eastern Time Zone. Go into www.gist.com and enter 95825 as the ZIP code. Then take a look at the schedule for both AT&T broadband and compare it to Dish and DirecTV. In most cases, the cable channels "prime time" schedule tapes place between 5-8 PM, and paid programming can start as early as 9 PM. In some cases, the programming is a "one-time only" showing, with no repeat scheduled for the near future.

In population terms, California has more residents than New York, but the East/Central time zones have more people than the West Coast. I can certainly understand the reasons behind having only east coast feeds. But, Dish is also targeting LiL for the west coast markets. If you are targeting customers on the West Coast, wouldn't it be easier to make the sale if the change is as transparent to the new subscriber as possible. Why do you think DirecTV (and now Dish) now map the OpenTV boxes to local channel numbers? Because it's easier to remember channel 3 is located at 3, not 764 or 8632.

From Dish's lineup, the following channels have West Coast feeds available that are part of the AT-150 pack: ABC Family, AMC, Arts and Entertainment, Bravo, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, Court TV, Discovery, E!, F/X, History Channel, The Learning Channel, Lifetime, MTV, SciFi Channel, TNN, TNT, TV Land, USA, and VH-1. (Note: Dish carries West Coast feeds of Nick and Disney). Of those, I think it would be nice to add SciFi Channel, TNT, F/X, and Cartoon Network. Those feeds could be carried on 110.

I think the biggest problem with West Coast feeds is that you do not get another "channel". People looking at a sales brouchure are probably looking to see if their favorite channel is in there, not thinking about timezone. Kind of a bait and switch because if you are coming from cable in the west you are used to having the west coast feed, and do not think about it.

Can anybody link to a site that lists potential channels, or channels that already exist but are not carried by D or E? I know I've seen such lists and link pages before, but now I can't find one.

Jarnerdav,

Go to the DBS Service Desk. (linked either on this page or off the main page) He's got a proposed AT200 and such things.

See ya
Tony

Just as a side note..... I wrote a snail mail letter to Dish Network, and yesterday, I got a phone response to my requests, along with a letter that I should be receiving shortly.
