View Full Version : PocketDish and HD Transfers
I tried calling last night during the Tech Chat after they said they weren't getting any calls and it sounded like they were putting me through but they just put me on hold and never let me though.
I was going to ask about the capability of the PocketDish to receive HD recordings which are downconverted (keeping the 16x9 aspect ratio). It's getting close to a year that I've been waiting for this.
Does anyone know if this is coming?
Since the Record Link feature is now working on the 622 you can set up an EXT timer to record directly to the PD. It will automatically turn on the PD and start the recording at the proper time. The recording stops when the program stops. The only problem I have is that it does not turn off the PD but I can live with that.
This does not use the USB file transfer for HD recordings, which you still can't do, but it does allow you to easily record programs that are broadcast in HD on the PD, down converted of course.

That's good to know. Do you know if it retains the 16x9 aspect ratio of the HD program?

Anybody?
I'll have to test it again to be sure.
The recordings done as the EXT device from the 622 are done in 4x3 even when the original program is HD and 16x9. You use either S-Video or RCA cables for the connection.

That's what I was afraid of. I am more interested in the downconverted program retaining the 16x9 aspect ratio. I don't care about the resolution because the pocketdish screen is so small.
