Well, I'm really starting to get frustrated with this....every time DTV updates the firmware it resets the IR code settings and mucks things up. I know they are just trying to enhance but they need to leave configs alone. I am sure from reading many posts I'm not the only one who has two or more Hx20s in a rack by each other and needs unique IR codes. My suggestion to DTV is to make sure there is a single (documented) IR code that is unique for each settop variant (that means model+manufacturer) for both DTV and AV1/AV2 Receiver settings. This would allow easy non-conflicting use. To-date, this has been a real guessing (trial-n-error) game and as stated every new firmware update sends me back to the drawing board and my house is shutdown for TV use. :mad:

So (again), my setup is one HR20-700, H20-100 and H20-600 all in a central rack with distributed TVs. Here is how they were setup (working) with no IR conflicts.
************************************************** **********
H20-600 ==> Codeset 00001, Remote Slider @ DTV Logo, Receiver Mode IR...DirecTV mode
H20-100 ==> Codeset 00002, Remote Slider @ AV1 Logo, Receiver Mode IR...AV1/AV2 mode
HR20-700 ==> Codeset 00003, Remote Slider @ AV2 Logo, Receiver Mode IR...AV1/AV2 mode
************************************************** **********

It appears with some of the recent updates that the remote and/or receivers don't distinguish between DirecTV and AV1/AV2 settings....they respond to valid codes in either. This may be my pilot error so please explain how to set/confirm the Receiver in DirecTV or AV1/AV2 mode ?....fyi....I've gone into the Menu and toggled them but for some reason it doesn't make a difference. In other words, I can set a Receiver Mode to AV1/AV2 and program the remote to say codeset 00001 and if the DTV slider position also has 00001 programmed into it the Receiver will respond........to either slider position. So, I must be doing something wrong ?

This is what is happening now.........no matter what remote slider DTV or AV1 or AV2 position I program these codes into [MUTE]+[SELECT] [type in Codeset] or combo of DirecTV or AV1/AV2 Receiver mode when I hit power button the below settops toggle ON/OFF
************************************************** **********
Codeset 00001 -> H20-100 & H20-600
Codeset 00002 -> H20-100
Codeset 00003 -> H20-100 & HR20-700
Codeset 00004 -> H20-100
************************************************** **********

As you can see from the above it appears Codeset 00002 & 00004 are unique to H20-100 but the 00003 I counted on for HR20-700 is no longer ? This is an excerpt from previous threads on how I resolved for HR20-700.....I've gone thru all these steps and no luck. I've tried similiar with the other settops and corresponding codes....always run into a conflict as stated above. From the above it would appear I could use the codesets 00001 and 00003 to distinguish the H20-600 and HR20-700 like I have in my origional solution....but the gotcha is this assumes I have one in DirecTV and the other in AV1/AV2 Receiver modes....but as I stated well above it appears the settops don't distinguish.

************************************************** **********
1) Reset the remote to IR mode. I know it is already in IR mode but wanted to make 100% sure. The steps are hold [MUTE]+[SELECT] on remote until light blinks twice and type 961 then hit [CHANNEL DOWN] key on remote.
2) Went into Menu/Remote and changed the Receiver Mode to (DirecTV).
3) Moved and now operating remote in slider position DTV
4) Went into Menu/Remote and under Program Remote selected Reset Remote. The steps in this menu are basically hold [MUTE]+[SELECT] on remote until light blinks twice and type 981. This resets the whole remote.
5) Went into Menu/Remote and under Program Remote select AV1 then DirecTV unit (this is section that allows you to control TV, DVD, etc.).
6) Went back into Menu/Remote and changed Receiver Mode to (AV1/AV2). Need to use keys on H20-100 front panel to select Done.
7) Moved remote slider to AV1. Held down [MUTE]+[SELECT] until light blinked twice and typed in 00003 code.

Well, I've been at this literally all day and night trying every combo I can think of. I guess my question is when does the Receiver get locked to the code set in the remote ? The Receiver (mode) can only be set to DirecTV or AV1/AV2 so at what point in seleting one of these options does the Receiver go "ahh...that the code you are telling me to understand in the DirecTV (or AV1/AV2) you just selected and ignore all else".

Previously Working Config
************************************************** **********
H20-600 ==> Codeset 00001, Remote Slider @ DTV Logo, Receiver Mode IR...DirecTV mode
H20-100 ==> Codeset 00002, Remote Slider @ AV1 Logo, Receiver Mode IR...AV1/AV2 mode
HR20-700 ==> Codeset 00003, Remote Slider @ AV2 Logo, Receiver Mode IR...AV1/AV2 mode
************************************************** **********

My steps today to try to replicate.........
************************************************** **********
1) All Settops off with black tape on sensors........Reset Remote by move slider to DTV then holding [MUTE]+[SELECT] on remote until light blinks twice and type 981....light blinks four times.
2) Moved Remote slider to AV2 and holding [MUTE]+[SELECT] on remote until light blinks twice and typed 00003
3) Un-taped HR20-700 and used Menu on faceplate to select Receiver mode AV1/AV2.
4) Turned off HR20-700 and put black tape back on sensor.

5) Moved Remote slider to AV1 and holding [MUTE]+[SELECT] on remote until light blinks twice and typed 00002
6) Un-taped H20-100 and used Menu on faceplate to select Receiver mode AV1/AV2.
7) Turned off H20-100 and put black tape back on sensor.

8) Moved Remote slider to DTV and holding [MUTE]+[SELECT] on remote until light blinks twice and typed 00001
9) Un-taped H20-600 and used Menu on faceplate to select Receiver mode DIRECTV.
10) Turned off H20-600.

11) Pulled black tape off all settops and moved slider from DTV to AV1 to AV2 hitting power.........results..........

DTV => power cycles HR20-700 & H20-100 :mad:
AV1 => power cycles H20-100 only :)
AV2 => power cylces H20-600 & H20-100 :mad:

Any thoughts ? I feel like I'm missing a step or understanding of where remote code set and receiver communicate and because of that I'm really not uniquely setting these up like I think.

Your steps give me a headache.

Whats your proof that your H20 use codes 00001, 00002, 00003, and 00004? the following steps:

MENU> Settings> Setup> Remote> AV1> Directv Receiver> 00001, 00002, 00003, 00004? I'm sorry but ALL receiver have that in their menus, it means nothing and its wrong.

H20-100 codesets are 00001 & 00002.
H20-600 codesets are 00001 & 00002.
HR20-700 codesets are 00001 & 00003.

When switching codesets cover the other two receivers.

The H20-600:

You want it set to code 00001, if its set to it already, then just cover and move on to the next receiver.

If its not set to code 00001, then do the following: with H20-100 & Hr20-700 covered: Program a device not being used with code 00001, switch back to the working device, then:

1. MENU> Settings> Setup> Remote> Receiver mode>

2. tap DIRECTV or AV1/AV2 to reveal both

3. press DIRECTV, the remote shouldn't work any longer, switch to the device with code 00001

4. press DONE

H20-100:

with H20-600 & HR20-700 covered.

Program unused device on the remote with code 00002, switch back to the working device. Then:

1. Menu> Settings> Setup>Remote> Receiver mode>

2. tap DIRECTV or AV1/AV2 to reveal both

3. press AV1/AV2, the remote shouldn't work any longer, switch to the device with code 00002

4. press DONE

HR20-700:

With H20-600 & H20-100 covered.

Program a unused device with code 00003, switch back to the working device:

1. Menu> Setting> Setup> Remote> Receiver mode>

2. press DIRECTV or AV1/AV2 to reveal both

3. press AV1/AV2, the remote shouldn't working any longer, switch to the device with code 00003

4. press Done

Thanks.....this whole thing is giving me a headache....or could it be the banging my head against the wall. :lol:

I've done your instructions to the letter.........here is the problem....it centers around the H20-100. With one remote I set.....
DTV (00003) for HR20-700 (AV1/AV2),
AV1 (00002) for H20-100 (AV1/AV2),
AV2 (00001) for H20-600 (DIRECTV)

Results.........
=> With this the H20-100 behaves exclusive (no conflict with ON/OFF).
=> The HR20-700 and H20-600 work but also turn on the H20-100
=> No conflict amoung HR20-700 and H20-600.
=> I also noticed in the step that you outlined............
2. tap DIRECTV or AV1/AV2 to reveal both
3. press AV1/AV2, the remote shouldn't work any longer, switch to the device with code 00002
........in the H20-100 the remote continued to work when pressing AV1/AV2. This was not the case in the others.
It is almost like the H20-100 x2021 firmware does not distinguish between DIRECTV and AV1/AV2 Receiver modes.

UPDATE (SOLVED) :D
Well, this was one for the books...burned a full day of my time. I kept wondering for the H20-100 why the DIRECTV and AV1/AV2 Receiver Mode selection continued to work as I selected/toggled. As you and all others have stated once you change you should need to move the slider or use the Menu keys on the settop faceplate. So, I went ahead and did a Menu>RESET Everything. I took me about 20 minutes to run thru the setup but I wrote down all my settings prior. Anyway, when I went back to program the remote and receiver mode it all worked !!!!!! Must have been some firmware glitch when the x2021 code downloaded.....wierd.

Thanks for the help !!!!
