I noticed that there is a line on my DirecTV account under "View Recent Activity" that says
"For Engineering Only - Charge $0.00"
Anyone know what it might be for? Anyone see it as well?

I wonder if they're shifting some of the cost of the additional programming that's coming around. As long as it's $0, it's just a curiosity, right?

They're probably just doing some work on the billing system.

Most likely it is a replacement BBC that is showing up. D* has to account for them somehow.

Maybe It means I have been selected as a VOD CE Tester
(wishful thinking)
OR
They are checking if All my receivers are phone connected
So I can get the ALL ACCESS package that Doesn't exist Yet
(or ever)
:D
Are all of us with the bogus 'engineering charge' entry hooked up and operational with the internet?
After a few responses, we'll know if it's worth a "poll" to be certain...

I have the Engineering Only charge. Was posted on my account on 8/14. As of about 3 weeks ago, my HR20 is networked.

I'm not on the internet at this time - have had some connection issues I haven't had time to resolve yet. And I have the charge on my bill.

I have the charge as well. I have been connected to the internet for several months.
Mine is not networked, and I haven't attempted to set it up yet.... but I still have the "charge"

I'm networked and have ordered BBCs and do not have the charge on my account as of this morning.

My curiosity got the best of me so I decided to go to the source. Called D* and after 20 minutes of the nice CSR "looking in to it" I still don't know what it means. She did ask if I had recently added new equipment or perhaps added BBCs. I told her that would be true only if April could be considered recent.
So I left it at that. She had no idea what it was and told me not to worry since it was a $0.00 charge.
Oh well. It was worth a shot. I should have known it would never be as simple as calling and getting a direct/accuarte answer.

I haven't looked at a DirecTV bill in over a year - I look at the charge on my Amex - if it is right, that's all I care about.

I don't have that on my account, but a mysterious $0.00 charge I've seen every month since about the beginning of the year is...
Block Viewing Data Collection 0.00
I haven't a clue what this one is for.

For the: Blocked Viewing Data Collection...
You must have opted out of viewing data collection.

There is an opt in I think it is that will allow D* to monitor your viewing habits in the "non-personal data" kind of thing. I believe if you opt out you have that kind of thing on your bill.
What Earl said! :)

If nobody on here can give you a direct answer, it is a 100% certainty that a CSR won't be able to either.
