First thanks for all the help. I got the prince puppets domain name, bought a scanner which we needed anyway, and am experimening with AOL free web hosting service. But am wondering what other low cost space is out there?

This has been fun frustrating, and @#&#@ all rolled into one.

In any case I will be putting up our before and after weight loss surery pictures We are putting these on our christmas cards as well. The change is amazing:)

AOL limits pictures to 50KB, s that small web image size?

I Bet any other ISP than AOL would do a better job than AOL? Bob you may want to contact Earthlink.net or maybe a local ISP in your area. Their free hosting or "pay a little extra for more" hosting may be good for you. They may also have some information on Low Cost Hosting if they can't provide you with the service you need. I've done stuff with some corporate hosting, but that is way beyond what you want or need.

Readyhosting appears to be the better deal, but no 24/7 support, just business hours.

Funny how you mention these two companies. I have used Readyhosting for the last year, and am now switching to aplus.net. While I cannot really comment on the speed and reliability of aplus.net, I can tell you already that the customer service is great. I screwed up when I registered my new domain, and they were able to cancel my account, and then restart it with the correct domain. The cool thing that I like about them also is that they have a 30 day money back guarentee, I do not remember seeing that with readyhosting. Also aplus.net lets you pay on a monthly basis, where readyhosting you pay for the whole year upfront.

While for the most part my site has had little problems with readyhosting, there was a whole weekend that they were hacked and my site was down. Finally came back up, with no apology from them. They are some of the hardest people to get in touch with, but when you do their CS department are real helpful.

Just my two cents.

I actually just did the reverse. I used Aplus and found my email servers were down for extended periods four times in two months. I also found they didn't support PHP and were forcing me to change accounts which made me go from 500MB to 200MB to get it.

I was not happy.

If you're not conducting transactions, I wouldn't worry about going to Aplus. Beware though that their email servers have crashed quite frequently.

Can't say anything for Readyhosting except my site appears to serve MUCH faster, I have unlimited email accounts and aliases, almost everything is automated, but getting tech support outside of business hours is a royal pain if you need them.

For the price, you can't complain with either.

My hunch on Aplus is that they have business issues. The tone in the CSRs voice when I called Aplus indicated MANY users were complaining and they are losing accounts left and right.
