View Full Version : DVR Protected Mode no better than Normal

Just realized that the 622 delete function is much different than my old 921. If you do a select all then delete it takes out the protected files as well. I tried it on an individual basis and it acts no differently than if not protected. So I guess the question is, why have protected mode at all if it deletes the same as unprotected files. Can this issue be surfaced to Dish engineering, I presume this was not a purpose built marketing feature :) . I can see the sales pitch now "and you can delete any file without going through the hassle of unprotecting it" Duh.

Protected mode is meant to prevent the DVR from deleting it automatically (due to lack of space, # of episodes to be kept, etc.). I for one don't mind that it doesn't protect from "delete all" since I never have a reason to delete everything. However, it would be nice if DISH added a deleted items folder similar to what tivo has, just for that rare occasion I delete something then want it back the next day!
It will stop YOU from deleting protected recordings only IF you LOCK the receiver.

I have mine set to require a password to delete a protected episode.
