I have read before that some of the Dish Network Cd channels are being duplicated due to the fact that some channels are in the process of being "reprogrammed" by Muzak. The Non-Stop Hip Hop Channel has been broadcasting the music of the Urban Beat Channel for about the past 2-3 months now I think. Any ideas as to when this nonsense may end? We are paying to receive a certain # of channels and when some are duplicated, we are not truly receiving what we are paying for. Radio stations change formats and reprogram overnight, so what's the deal with Muzak taking months to do it????

Does anyone know any more about these channels and when they may finally have all original programming?

For the past few months channel 931 has been duplicated on channel 971 (971 should be playing full length works, not the "pops" format that is 931's format.) I wrote to the CEO email address, and was told the same thing told to shilton and that it would be restored to its orginal format. This was over 2 months ago, and still the duplication. This really P me O since I am paying for a full slate of music channels.

Hopefully, someone can enlighten both shilton and myself.

Any question to Dish regarding their music channels is simply referred to Muzak, who produces the channels.
I have twice emailed Muzak with the same complaints about their channels, the fact that there is NO stereo "Hits" channel (the "Hot Hits" plays EuroDisco!) and that their classical channels play what is clearly intended for lobbies and restauraunts (minor chamber music only, never any major works or music that might draw attention to itself).

The first time I got a response that told me to switch to the mono "hits" channel (wow, great suggestion :( ) and this last time (one month ago) no response at all....

Dish should dump this loser music service and team with someone like XM or Sirius...

When this first started back in July there were three sets of duplicate channels, now Urban Beats and Hip Hip are the only duplicates left. I don't know what's taking so long or what exact changes are going on. I really don't mind Muzak that much anymore, other then the fact that the rock channels are edited. :(

Not true. Channels 931 and 971 are exactly the same. Same faceless, boring baroque chamber music over and over. Not a Mahler symphony or Stravinsky ballet in sight.
Specially selected for your dining pleasure the most boring music of all time!!!!

That and "Roadhouse"....

I didn't know about that set. When it was first reported over the summer, the only 3 mentioned were

Concert Classics & Light Classical
Contemporary Instrumentals & Easy Instrumentals
Non Stop Hip Hop & Urban Comtemp

After a week of waiting...finally this "official word" from MUZAK concerning duplicated programming...

The simulcast of Urban Beat you are hearing is to allow us to make technical upgrades to accommodate new programming. Unfortunately this process has take longer than anticipated. We hope to have an announcement about the new programming before the end of the year.

So in other words...I guess just wait and they will fix it when they feel like it.
