Des Moines Locals Now Uplinked to 110 spot 7

Just thought I'd let you all know that I received information today about the Des Moines locals. They are all uplinked to transponder 10, spot 7 at 110° on channels 9110-9114 and 9116. Both ABC (which wants too much money) and WB (which is owned by Pappas) have issues with Echostar at this point so they will most likely not be available initially. They are officially scheduled to be available on the 21st, but will be turned on to subscribers late in the day to early evening on the 20th

The problem with the WB isn't specific to the Des Moines station. Dish and Pappas Broadcasting (the owner of the WB affiliate) have a long history of squabbling. I don't know the details in this case.

Tony - KPWB is shown on the channelchart as coming on November 20? But in your above comments you note that there is a retrans dispute. Also WB wasn't listed on the tech chat. So, it seems like the dispute is correct, and the channelchart is mistaken.

Hey Darkman, yep I've been using GC* for GlobeCast. They have been moving channels around since they added their 5th TP. The channel numbers on the new TP is 401-407. I wonder what Hi-Tech TV will be like when it's added to channel 101.

I went there - lol - unfortunatly not what i thought - i think it will be some Sales/Marketting channel

It was a channel added to the 11867 one today..and someone already updated Lyngsat's t5..but they touched "fashion" again :(

Darkman, I checked out the Hi-Tech site. It's kind of like an infomercial channel, but with some twists such as Independant Films and Musical Concerts (where you can buy copies of the films and concerts after you watched them).

So what's wrong with FashionTV? I get it just fine. Oh, wait I subscribe to it, it never goes out :D If your ever board really late check out Midnight Hot at Midnight ET talk about bizzare!

My dumb q was not controversial at all. After looking at Bryan's spot beam map, I wondering if Atlanta locals were on spot 11, then I remembered, as distant nets, they are on CONUS

Bryan - at T5 today (right now actually 12 noon Central) - on 12177 i think - at VTV4 channel they are showing some Jewish TV in Hebrew (on screen says "2" (as logo))...

Do you know anything about it?

That would be Reshet Bet, the 2nd network. Some of the bandwidth on 12177 is leased by RR Sat in Beersheba, Israel; VTV4 being 1 of the channels they transmit. VTV4 is only on a few hours a day. At other times the Christian G-d Channel will be up a few hours. During the unpurchased time they will put up just about anything OTA in Israel.

It does look like RR Sat is experiencing uplink problems because their color bars keep breaking up.

BTW the RR Sat uplink for T5 originates Rehovot, Israel. And is sent via fiber to England then routed to the US.

The Des Moines CBS affiliate is listed as WCCI on your locals list, which is incorrect. It should be KCCI (Channel 8).

I hate greedy, money-grubbers. It's bad enough I have to sit through 20 minutes of commercials for WOI and KPWB, and have my shows interrupted constantly. But now they want to double dip and take unreasonable amounts of money for subscribing to it on satellite too? Screw them. ALIAS is the only show on ABC worth a damn and their local newscast sucks. WB doesnt even have a local newscast. These two stations are the weakest in the market, and they should be begging if not paying DISH to carry their crap. I do commend DISH for adding the Des Moines DMA. Hopefully, DirecTV will follow suit soon.
