View Full Version : E*8 transponder 13 question.
Can someone please check E*8 transponder 13 and comment on it's signal strength. I am in Mexico City and used to get 88 signal strength. Today, all day, I have been getting 0 (zero) signal strength.
Does anyone know if it's been moved back to E*5? Or is it maybe that it is no longer in double-power mode?
Any comments will be appreciated.

Wrate,
Getting 87 signal in Cincinnati with a clear sky. this signal is about what I get with other E*5 transponders, perhaps a bit higher. Hard to tell. I need some one with a 3 meter dish to tell me which transponders are coming from which satellites. :)
See ya

I can confirm that my reading as of 8PM eastern 11-13-02 is peaking around 86...(721 unit). Around Oct. 28 it was around 96.
Maybe they switched it back to E*5.....who knows with them.
Thanks a lot guys! I am in Mexico and although I get 80 to 90 signal strength readings from E*8 transponders and 0 (zero) from any of E*5 transponders. I am unable to tell whether this complete drop in signal strength in 110W transponder 13 is due to Dish moving transponder 13 back to E*5 or just going from double power to single power.
Your replies help a LOT. At least I know that something was actually moved up there. From your replies I am inclined to think that the transponder is back on E*5. I wonder why.
Thanks again.

Down in the Caribbean last night I could see a lockable signal on transponder 4 which is a spot beam transponder that I should not be able to receive and noted the signal on transponder 13 had dropped to an unlockable level.
It does look as if transponder 13 has been put on single power as the signal level is much lower than the E*VIII transponders and similar to the old levels on E*V. Transponder 4 has only one spot beam on it so it looks as if it could have been switched back to a CONUS antenna as I am seeing a signal here.

It rather looks to me as if transponders 4 and 13 are back on E*V
Johnsmith22, according to lyngsat transponder 13 is back on E*5.

Yes, seems very strange to me as Telemundo and Azteca Spanish language channels are on there which are part of the Latino package that I would have thought would be popular in Puerto Rico where it seems you need a 1.8 meter dish to get transponder 13 satisfactorily.
I wonder if this is a temporary measure as they shuffle channels around.
It looks as if Buffalo may be lighting up. Although I am currently in blockage for one of the transponders, the other seems to be happily delivering some form of audio and video content. Given these streams are not FTA, I could only guess at their content.

jhall, take a look at the channel chart or lyngsat for info on what channels on what transponders. (www.dishchannellist.com or www.lyngsat.com)
Buffalo channels are riding piggy-back on the same spot bean with Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Cincinnati.
yes, they have been there for a while, but yesterday they started transmitting some sort of content.

jhall - all of them or only 61.5's?
I am seeing the ones on 110. I haven't run a 61.5 update in a while, so they're not in my lineup. I guess I should run that.

k..
thought so that you are seeing 110 as well (cuz the rumors are non-mere mortals can see 'em at 61.5 as well)
