Please forgive me for I'am sure this has been ask before.
I now have two 301's I want to change out one of the 301's for a 721. What do I need? quad lnb, switch of some type? both? or just one of the above.? If only one of above witch is better, lnb or switch?

Also the 721 has a recording capacity of about 90hr. is that for one HD or the two combined?

Thanks in advance for any info.

mancow,
it will somewhat depend on your current installation. But let me assume that you have a Dish500 with Twin LNB, and one cable going to each 301.

In this case the best would probably be a legacy Quad LNB to replace the current Twin. This will give you (4) output of a combined 110/119. The existing cables that run to your current 301's will remain in place and use 2 of the Quad outputs. Now you will need to run a 3rd cable (which will be the 2nd one to the 721). This gives full 110/119 sat view to each of the 721 tuners.

As for the 721 - it is 90 hours TOTAL record time. When you say "HD" I must assume  you mean hard disk drive. There is only 1 hard drive in the 721 (I think it's 120 MB).
If by chance when you say "HD" you mean High Definition...well, the 721 does not support HiDef.

hope this helps :hi:

I have a question to add. Since the 721 has 2 tuners, would I have to pay an extra $5 a month as if I had 2 receivers? and does this mean that I would be limited to recievers in 3 rooms?

Sorry, that was 2 questions....
