:hi:
It seems that the Colorado Springs local channels have been uplinked for a while now. Does anyone have any new info regarding availability? Two and a half years ago when I first signed on with Dish Network, I got the "sales pitch" that the locals were to be available that fall. Live and Learn.
Thanks.

seems to me they would of been available already. I mean i was shocked when i saw Des Moines Iowa as the next city. Lets just hope that Colorado Springs doesn't have the same faith as Baltimore on Dish.

Last info I got ( Oct.02) was from the C.E. at KOAA that they were working out the legal issues with E* regarding re-transmision rights. If you want to read is comments check out the BBS at the KOAA websit. Haven't heard anything else lately. Calling E* customer service has proved to be a complete waste of time!!

Friday? That's an odd day for Dish. Dish generally adds stations on Wednesdays late in the day (about 4-6pm Eastern time) and sometimes on Thursdays. Friday is not in Dish's M.O.
Perhaps that is the first day they got the contract okayed for...who knows. Thanks Frank. Though I would need some corroberation to post this on the big chart.
See ya

They where supposed to be added Oct 23 according to one of the local networks. 30 days late because of re-trans dispute makes sense. So far E* seems to give all the affiliates a 30 day window, but if not the dispusted station is not carried in the package then E* has the consumer put the heat on the network. It also gives white ares subs the opportunity to request that network out of market, which is a loose loose for the local network. Most of this is owner posturing. The sub base numbers ultimatly tell the network why they are loosing advertisers.
It's also interesting that past the top 100 most affiliates would give their left you know what to be carried, while the lower 100 posture to be carried at above avg market price. This is one area that I think Charlie has done a good job, bye bye to the stupid affiliates.

Just got done reading an article that appeared in the local newspaper regarding the LIL rollout in Colorado Springs. One word to sum up my feelings...Disappointment! After waiting for years for this to happen I find out that the NBC and CBS stations have yet to sign on the dotted line! That leaves us with 1 ABC , 1 FOX, 1 PBS, and possibly 1 Superstation (KWGN-Denver). Sure it is better than nothing at all, but disappointing none the less. Thanks for trying E*! Tough to satisfy customers when the local stations are run by Booger Eating Morons!!
The article says that subscribers will get a buck off the regular subscription price of $5.99/mo, at least they are trying to do the right thing.

:ewww: Yeh, I know it stinks, but 4 of 6 is not bad either and hopefully CBS and NBC will follow in the next couple of months. AT least I only have to tune in 2 channels with the rabbit ears now. Who watches UPN anyway?

Loxsmith,
Did you see the post on KOAA's website by the G.M.? They want viewers to write letters, make phone calls, and sign petitions to get E* to pay KOAA more to allow re-transmission on Dishnetwork! They claim that they are not being treated the same as other stations.

Yeh, say that. Sounds like they want someone to help pay for the new high power transmitter the just activated. I really don't think Echostar treats any smaller stations differntly unless they have a good reason. Look how many small local stations are being broadcast in other cities. The letter doesn't do a very good job of explaining why. Also dropped an E-mail to GM of KKTV requesting a comment on their non-participation so far. Have not heard back yet.

I did the same thing, same result! Don't hold your breath, I don't think they give a rats ass about the veiwers questions.

Looks like I'll be 'moving' to Denver soon....
KornKid81 - Why are you shocked that Des Moines market was added to DISH Locals before ColoSprings? Last time I checked, Colorado Springs was DMA #91 and Des Moines is #70. Des Moines is the capital of the state and the stations reach a population between 500k and 600k. It's not cornfields and barns. I think ColoSprings serves about 350k people. Plus, DISH already has the DENVER stations serving a large population of Colorado. Iowa had none. Anyway, I think both cities are now offered on DISH. Best Wishes...
