GOTTA love the fog!

Anyways, watching a spec on a bumper cam and hearing lagged audio is kind of annoying.

I noticed the same thing. The spotter audio was lagging. The video at the glen wasn't to good either it would pics-elate. It did it a little today on some of there cameras.

The delay on team audio is my biggest complaint with HotPass. I've only had it since the mid-season point, but if they can't get the audio to match the video I don't know if I'll renew next year...which is a shame, because (other than the audio delay) I really do enjoy it :(

Has the delayed audio been a problem since the beginning?

The slight delay is on purpose and mandated by NASCAR because it is going out over the air on television. Kids watching, etc, etc. Sometimes in the heat of battle a few things are said that some age groups shouldn't hear and that is the decision of NASCAR to restrict it.

You will notice on ESPN, TNT, etc that whenever the go with team chatter it is always a tape delay replay so they can screen it, clean it up if need be, etc. (well almost, I know Kyle Petty got one in there not long ago that the censor missed)

Pay TV should not be censored. Just my opinion.

OK, although I agree that "pay tv" shouldn't be censored...I can somewhat accept NASCAR's decision. But, couldn't the whole package be delayed (i.e. video and audio) to keep things in sync. It's very disconcerting to hear "go, go, go" when the video shows the car already leaving pit road or "green, green, green" when the cars are about to enter the first turn.

I'd rather the video be a tad delayed just so the audio will sync. Heh, and Jeff said "ass" on the radio and it didnt get filtered.

we will see how it is when it is in HD next year :allthumbs

I agree, I am paying extra to get "real" racing, not censored be nice stuff. I want real audio straight up. I want real emotions not censored stuff. Maybe Hotpass should be rated PG-13 or R. I would think that racing fans that are getting Hotpass want the real deal, not the wuzzie version. IMO

I don't think it is censored or Jeff would be penalized.

It's not censored. The delay seems to be on D*'s side. On Gordon's channel there has not been a delay until a few weeks ago, and other driver channels don't have the delay. This problem has just shown up in the past few weeks, and yes it ticks me off.

Actually Jr. isn't on every week....actually 80.8% of the time :)

Here's the breakdown by my math in terms of appearances this year (including the next two weeks through Sept 2nd) and the percentage of races they have been on HotPass (this doesn't take into count when a guy wrecks, a backup driver appears on in his place).

28 different drivers have appeared so far

26 races, 5 drivers per race = 130 total slots
% = % of race appearances on HotPass through 26 races

Boris Said 1 race 3.8%
Carl Edwards 6 races 23%
Clint Bowyer 2 races 7.7%
Dale Earnhardt Jr. 21 80.8%
Dale Jarrett 2 7.7%
Dave Blaney 1 3.8%
David Stremme 4 15.4%
Denny Hamlin 8 30.8%
Elliott Sadler 2 7.7%
Greg Biffle 5 19.2%
JJ Yeley 2 7.7%
Jamie McMurray 3 11.5%
Jeff Burton 9 34.6%
Jeff Gordon 12 46.2%
Jimmie Johnson 5 19.2%
Juan Pablo Montoya 5 19.2%
Kasey Kahne 1 3.8%
Kevin Harvick 7 26.9%
Kurt Busch 7 26.9%
Mark Martin 4 15.4%
Martin Truex 1 3.8%
Matt Kenseth 4 15.4%
Michael Waltrip 1 3.8%
Reed Sorenson 1 3.8%
Robby Gordon 2 7.7%
Ryan Newman 3 11.5%
Tony Stewart 11 42.3%

There are 36 races. So there should be 180 spots.

Yes, but I only listed through the first 26 races (through September 2nd), not all 36. The schedules for some of the upcoming races in terms of which drivers will appear have not yet been announced.

Also, HotPass will broadcast 37 races this year....36 Cup races and the All-Star race.

D* sent me a survey a month or two ago and one of the questions was about my favorite driver(s). It seems to make sense to me for them to have the most popular drivers on the most . Maybe next year they will have the space to put more than six drivers on each race. It looks like a sure thing that HP will be in HD next year and I have heard from a good source that there will be some other new features also. D* and NASCAR have done a nice job improving HP from the way it started for the 07 Daytona 500 and it will keep on improving! :)

I'm not sure if you are running without a delay this week or if you matched up the video, but it seems right tonight. Much better!

I noticed a few minutes ago on the Gordon channel as well, no problems with any censors. :D There were a few choice words of frustration that got out from Jeff.

I definitely clearly heard the S word, so yeah, if they're trying to censor it, they're doing a crappy job.

Watched the harvick channel there was a delay in audio......why I have no idea cause more than once words got out that shouldn't have .....not that I mind if I am paying for it I should be able to hear everything
