Hi All!

Living in the U.S. Virgin Islands we are only able to access sat.119. I had been using a DishPlayer before upgrading to the 721. The Dishplayer received the 7 day EPG from 119. Now, the 721 only downloads the 44 hour EPG.
When I called tech support I was told that a "different company provided the 7 day EPG for the Dishplayer". I explained that I was not real happy to have "upgraded" to a new model PVR and actually lose the 7 day EPG. The tech rep was very understanding and I asked who to complain to. She told me to email Dish , which I did. The response I got back was baffling. "There is only so much room on the satellites and in order to receive the 7 day guide you MUST have access to 110."

Scott, do you, or anyone, know if and when the 7 Day EPG will be available on the 721 from 119?
Thanks!
Jim

Nobody is sure that will ever come to pass. On the latest Tech Forum, Dish did mention that they are looking at some enhancements to help the non-PVR IRD's with size of the guide.

My best advice is that if you want the EEPG, you put up another dish aimed at 110, with such dish being large enough to get a signal.

Also - there is a rumour going around that eventually the Dishplayers will also be using the EEPG that the 721 / 50x series are currently using.

Thanks Scooper but as I indicated, we cannot see 110 from here. Currently I am using a 6ft dish.

The recent software update (L104) was, as I understand it, primarily to allow the 721 to use a compressed guide. The hope is that this will allow them to cram it on 119. I am in Alaska and am also unable to see 110 so I really hope they figure out a way to do that. On the other hand, I am happy with my 721 given the dual tuners, large drive etc. I would rather have the smaller guide than live down in the lower 48. The price we pay to live in a nice place...
