Jimmy,

May I suggest that you reboot your receiver if it doesn't go away?

If that doesn't work, head down to the Radio Shack on Rte. 125 just over the state line and get an "audio de-syncerator" :):)

Yup, I grew up in the Merrimack Valley, folks.

Hi Jimmy,

Definitely do a reboot, I don't have the issue here when watching the locals via the HR20.

I see this issue all the time not only on my HD locals but on a lot of other channels but as you said not on OTA.

One channel I record a lot is ESPN-HD (Drag Racing) and I have to say that pretty much every single show I've recorded / watch will suffer some kind of audio sync issues. For me it seem to happen most often once I come out of some kind of trick play (like stacking some jumps through the commercials). Sometimes I can resolve it by hitting the jump back button and sometimes it doesn't resolve it at all. Sometimes it is so bad it is almost like I'm watching a dubbed version.

I was really curious to see if this would happen to my second HR20 which is a 100 and not a 700 which is what my first one is. While I haven't used it as much as I have the 700 it happens often both recorded and live broadcasts on that one as well.

I've chalked this up to an HR20 issue and not anything other then that. I haven't recorded any SD on either HR20 so I can't comment on that. This makes me believe that DLB probably isn't possible on these units as they don't seem to handle the single one that well. Me being a huge TiVO fan that is a big disappointment but it is what it is. You want an HD DVR for D* you have the HR20 and nothing else. If they do come out with an HD TiVO for D* some day I don't see there being a second thought in switching.

I saw the same sync issues watching the last two Patriot preseason games (H20 & AT9). It was odd to hear the crowd cheering on a play with the video of the QB just taking a snap, then it was a sack.....I ended watching the games OTA Hi Def instead.

Now that is very interesting, I did not experience this once during either pre-season game on 5. I did see some audio synch issues with the commercials, but as soon as it went back to gametime it was fine. I checked OTA at commercial time and I saw the same initial commercial audio synch up issue, but fine during the game. The commercial audio synch was more of an issue with the Tennessee game.

I have also noticed this on channel 5 it seems to come and go I thought it was them with the problem because on WEEI last Saturday they were talking about it and I think they have Comcast.

It sounds like a problem with the station's scalers then. They're not scaling the SD content to HD properly.

this problem has happened before.mostly during news center 5 and the pats pre season games.OTA has been ok on all occasions, maybe a problem at the D* uplink facility in sommerville? The issue with channel 7 has only done this once.
Both are fine now as of this posting.
I called my brother who lives across town and has comcrap and news center 5 at the time last night was ok.
This leads me to beleive that this a D8 issue.

Hey Stuart - it's posts like this that make this board the best - now I can sound like a professional and ask them about their scalers!

Thanks for making me look good, albeit a brief moment!
