Seeing as how we just got this GUI, I'm guessing it won't be updated for quite some time.

To make such a drastic GUI change in such a short amount of time is impossible. While the FiOS TV GUI looks nice, the current GUI on the D* receivers performs just fine for most functions. Don't expect to see any major GUI revamp for well over a year especially since they are currently in the process of switching all D* branded receivers to the new "white" GUI that the HR20 currently has.

I don't like it.

I don't really like it either, except for the fact it displays more channels on one page.

There are so many ways to present guide data and to supplement that information with color coding, symbols, etc.

Here's a screen capture from the native guide in my LG TV, showing an INFO pane that "floats" with the cursor location. It's not shown, but the INFO pane can be cycled through three sizes (small, medium, large) by pressing INFO, so the user can choose the level of program detail versus guide detail they wish to see on the fly ...

Yeah, I like this one too, Drew. And much more consistent with what we see now.

Also, I wouldn't be so sure to say we won't see changes in the GUI any time soon -- there probably is a reason that there are GUI changes (mostly invisible) in this CE.

I have both FIOS and D* and I like the D* guide much better. I also like the D* remote better. The Page Up/Down on FIOS takes a lot of getting used to. I initially had a hard time finding things at the top and bottom of the FIOS guide. I've been doing a side by side comparison of the HD content and the picture quality is almost identical with a slight edge going to FIOS. I decided to try this out when Verizon offered me a bundled package that was nearly the same cost as what I was paying for phone and FIOS Internet.

I like both D* and FIOS but D* will not leave my home because of all the sports they offer. The tech that installed my FIOS said that they would be adding about 60 new HD channels by the end of the year.

I'll be in HD heaven with FIOS and D*.
