Since I know that there are dealers who inhabit this board, they can probably answer this question....

My Dish system was installed in early September, 2001 before 9/11. The plan was Digital Home Plan with a one year commitment. The system installed was a 501 receiver and a 301 receiver. Because I needed a third receiver, there was an additional charge of $50.

1. Since I paid $50 for a third receiver, is it mine, or is the entire system Dish's (since I'm under a lease plan)?

2. Lets say I pick up a 508 from Costco. That receiver is mine--no strings attached, right? Can I just return one of the 301s, or will I have to give up the 501? And, what happens with customers with "mixed" systems? If something goes wrong with the 508, will I be covered on the lease, or will the repairs come out of my pocket?

Anybody?

As far as the question of which receiver you return, I believe that is up to you. If you keep your DHP active and add customer owned equipment I understand that the customer owned equipment is covered by the service contract. The best answer would be to call DISH a couple of times and see how many CSRs give the same answer then go with the majority answer.
