Hello,
I have always used monster cable ISAT-200 direct burial UV resistant jacket RG6, but now I don't get wholesale prices from them. So, upon recently visiting HOME DEPOT's cables, I see general cable (CAROL BRAND) C5775 RG6.

Is this a good cable to use for outdoor use on the roof where it gets really hot, and lots of snow in the winter? It is swept to 3GH. Not sure what the 18Ga. Solid Copper-Clad Steel 28.9 means. Does it mean steel on the outside of the Solid copper core? Thought solid bare copper carried a better/stronger signal.

Would this RG6 be good for lengths of 100ft? If not, how about the RCA direct burial RG6? Or what are your ideas on the best RG6 cable to run, besides QUAD shielded.

Thanks

This is a poor choice for your application. It a competitive priced cable. It has copper clad center conductor and isn't swept for 3GHz.

I would think that for a quantity of 100' it wouldn't be worth the effort to change from what you have been using even if you have to pay retail. You could save by buying over the Internet but shipping would eliminate your savings.

Monsterman, I bought belden 1694a it's solid copper center and rated for outdoor use..so you can bury it. It may be a little more money, but it's highly rated by many people.

That's pretty much what I've told anyone too.

Thanks for the replies.
The carol cable (C5775) is swept to 3GHz. The Belden cables are the same priced as the MONSTER cables (high), and don't seem to be any better quality. I only used monster cable because I was a wholesale dealer for them, so I got 60-70% off retail pricing. I know monster cable is good quality, my house looks like a monster cable showroom (with all the monster cable stuff).

Would I necessarily be better off with a direct burial cable even though I'm not burying it? It would be laying on top of the roof where I get temperature extremes.

Well it sounds like 18Ga. solid copper-clad steel isn't the way to go then?

Thanks

no need for flooded (direct burial) cable on a roof

OK, well if not the CAROL (C5775) how about the RCA VHB6111X? This is supposed to be a direct burial 100%copper core RG6 with weather resistant connectors.

Or even, the TERK TRG100 this to is supposed to be direct burial and 100% copper core.

I'm budgeting, but don't want to cheap out on this cable. Because I have to buy 300 ft of it, each in 100 ft lengths.
