I am a heavy dvd burner user. I use it on a regular basis, burning at least one 2 hour block of programming a week. All has been fine UNTIL yesterday. I have used the same burner, the same hardware, the same program to burn cd's and dvd since I got this computer over a year ago and have never had a problem. NOW when I try to burn it's a no go no matter how I try. I try to burn from Pinnacle Studio 10+ with no results. I am able to create a video file and save it and play it back just fine, just can't go to DVD with it. If I open a burnable window for the burner I get the message "Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file. What do you want Windows to do?" I have 2 choices, "retry" or "Cancel". Of course "retry" simply pops up the same message, so I have to cancel. I can't move ANYTHING into the burnable window, including music, videos or files of any kind. WHAT'S THE DEAL!?!?!?! Any clues? I also tried an external burner with the same results. I can't move a file into it's window to burn.

I was just successful in burning an audio cd to a cd just fine using WinAmp.

Sounds like something may have gotten corrupted, unfortunately the problem is trying to determine what. I would reload Studio first which will hopefully resolve the issue.

On another note - can you burn a DVD outside of Studio? If so then I would reload Studio which should resolve the issue. At the same time you might want to go a complete scan-disk of your hard drive to make sure you don't have a bad sector or sectors which could be the root cause.
