Any 5 LNB dish (the AT9 "side car" that you have or the AU9 "slimline") will receive the new HD channels if aimed correctly and used with a MPEG4 receiver (currently the HR20, H20 & H21) and BNC's (those grey boxes that should be plugged into the back of your DVR).

The technician probably never saw a AT9 and thought you needed a AU9.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine down here in New Orleans. They are coming to change [at no charge] his AT9 to the AU9 slimline?

I wonder what is going on here? Are there unknown problems with the AT9 that maybe we don't know about?

Cheers,
John

No, the AT9 and AU9 both work just fine. They shouldn't be wasting their time & money replacing perfectly fine working dishes.

Unless you see a real need for more holes in your roof, I would not bother changing out a perfectly good AT9 dish.

The tech said that they are haingsome problems with the 110 satellite LNB and so are replacing the "old" dishes. Who knows.
This company need to take a little of their money and do some rep training and a lot of their money and spend it on communicating with their subscribers and the media.
