I just got Dish Network last week with the 722 and am extremely happy. Installer was great. Second "remote" tv is downstairs for kids but am worried about sharing 722DVR with them as they may "accidently" erase something of ours and also 350 hours SD would be plenty of space but we record/watch a lot of HD so 55 could fill up fast. Anyway, any suggestions on most efficient and less costly option for a DVR on the "remote" TV? I know I can order thru Dish for $99 one time fee, $6 DVR monthly fee and $5 monthly lease fee. Are there any other options? If I bought a used 625 on Ebay would I be able to plug the satelite cable downstairs into it and use the 625? I assume if I did that I would not pay the $99 one time fee and the $5 monthly lease fee since I bought it myself but I would pay the extra $6 DVR fee. Thanks for any suggestions. BTW I have an old 40 hour TIVO Series 2 but assume that would not work on the "remote" TV as it can't control the satellite.

DevinNo you won't pay the $99 price but you will pay something to buy from Ebay and you will pay shipping and you may have to pay for installation depending on your abilities. Yes you will pay a DVR fee and yes you will pay $5 to duplicate programming on an additional receiver on your account.
If you are buying from Ebay you need to get the R00 and S00 numbers and call DISH to be sure the receivers are not leased and they don't have an outstanding balance you would have to pay before you could activate it.

Thanks for the info. The other wrinkle is that there is no phone line downstairs so I would have to pay another $5 per month since it would not be hooked up to a phone line.

You can lock the system or use the dvr protect to prevent recorded programs from being erased.

The additional tuner fee for not having a phone line hooked up is limited to specific dual tuner receiver. You would have to pay the additional receiver fee, but unless it was a second dual tuner receiver there would not be another tuner fee. If you get another dvr, you may see another dvr fee as well.

I have tried protect but as far as I can tell it just keeps the DVR from erasing it when the DVR hard drive fills up. Anyone can still erase it manually. Is there another form of protect where a recorded program needs a password before erasing it manually?

You need to lock the receiver to prevent manual deleting of protected recordings.

You can use wireless phone jacks to solve that problem.

Thanks for that info. I just got the 722 Saturday so have not gotten around to learning all the details. I will look this up. By the way if you have time ... if I lock the receiver does that keep you from changing the channels and scheduling recordings or just from deleting things?

When locked and protected, you need to put in your lock code or unlock the system to erase.
