Are the smart cards in dish recievers tied to a particular reciever or can they be interchanged? let us say a 301 with a mod4000. what will happen if anything? will you hurt anything by trying? thanks for your answers!

The smart cards are married to the receivers. I think you need to contact a CSR at Dish to arrange for a divorce and move the card to another receiver.
