For those interested in seeing channel logos added, as a means of updating one's receiver, it may interest you to know that I've noticed the addition of eight [8] logos to my RCA receiver (DRD450RG) -- it's an Interactive system -- purchased in January 2002.

Those channel logos added just recently (I first noticed them Saturday, November 16, 2002) are: 234 Shop at Home; 258 Fox Movie Channel; 260 Women's Entertainment; 286 Discovery Home & Leisure; 287 Discovery Wings; 311 ABC Family; 312 The Hallmark Channel; 354 Tech TV.

There has, evidently, been the deletion of one channel's logo: I live in the Detroit, Michigan marketing area and channel 50 WJBK DT50 -- Detroit's UPN -- no longer has the UPN logo. Hmm.

I must say that I'm glad to bring to this to the attention of those who may be interested. It seems not long ago there was at least a couple people interested in this topic, and I hope that they, too, come across this posting.

i have the hughes executive directors pack, with 3 day Advanced Program Guide, NO new logos here. Its good that RCA included them in the patch. I will NEVER buy hughes again and look forward to the release of RCA`s next generation IRD`s which should be released soon, since the drd 450 RG models are not considered gen 6 irds, but sort of a point upgrade from the drd 450 RE models, which are gen 5 i believe.

You ought to switch to the Director's Pack model (MPG). Works great and just got the Hughes upgrade (including logos)

Also add MUN2, and Fox Sports Net North, Shop NBC to the new LOGOS added on the upgrade. I wish they would add USA,SCIFI, TNN, MUCH Music to the logos, all of these had logos once but removed. When I first got my new DRD 430rg last feb. It had the new TNN logo that they use now, but it went off.

I have the Sony A65 receiver, and none of those mentioned got updated on mine. Instead I got an updated ABC, AMC, Trio, BET, and MTV; the old TNT logo; and added History International, VH-1 Classic, Discovery Civilization, and I think a couple others that I can't remember off the top of my head. It seems odd that certain manufacturer's update only certain logos.

harryd, the MPG boxes are the older guide systems. What Hughes did was upgrade the MPG boxes to the logos that I already have, thats all. RCA RG boxes now have logos that neither you or I have on our boxes !!!!!!!!

IMHO, who cares if you have current logos in your guide rather than just the station name and number? I have a RCA receiver without all of the current logos, and even my wife and kid can find stations without much difficulty. Kind of a nit-picky thing to complain about. Does your receiver get the stations? I'd be more concerned about your equipment if it had real problems, not just a few missing logos. If that is your biggest problem with your receiver, you don't have it that bad.

This was going on for more than a week now and already mentioned in this thread:

It's part of a general software upgrade to the RCA receivers. You'll notice slightly faster guides and menus and some other minor changes.

KarlF, its all a matter of taste. There are are some that dont care about the logos but many do. The reciever was manufactured with a guide system that supports logos and should be upgraded when they become out of date otherwise its not fair to the customer that looked at the IRD in store and purchased it assuming it was upgradeable via Directv. In reality its upgradeable via a software patch from the manufacture via Directv.Ideally, the logos should NOT be on the buttom of you screen wich is very annoying on almost every channel but should be part of the guide system .

I hope that "bugs" go away in the future when nearly everyone has digital TV or at least guide data (satellite, digital cable, gemstar).
