I upgraded one of my receivers to Hughes DTivo unit, and called them to send back one of my standard receivers.
They sent out the box and on the directions it states:
1) Place old receiver between the foam sheets in the box provided.
2) Do not include the satellite dish, payments or correspondence.
3) Include the access card and remote control without the batteries.

Now...
1 - Ok I can do that
2 - So they don't want the power cord? A/V cords, telephone cord or manuals?
3 - I got lucky and they agreed to move over my access card to the new receiver, so I won't be including that.

So, Do I include all those cords/wires and books that were originally included in the receiver they installed?

Thanks

-Mike

No, you don't need to return the accesory cables.

I'm surprised they are asking for the remote. I recall with the last receiver I returned, they said not to send it.

I have never returned a remote, and they have never made a fuss.

I upgraded from a HDTV receiver to HD-DVR from D*. They said I need to return the HDTV receiver after the install was done (free upgrade by the way too). My first DVR was defective so when I received the new one I shipped the defective one back. I'm still waiting for a box to return the HDTV receiver. Looks like D* forgot about it.

Actually, that's not totally true. You're supposed to return the power cable. I e-mailed them and asked about it when I cancelled service. The other cables (s-video/composite) don't need to be returned.

-MikeDid you actually upgrade to a "HUGHES D TiVO" unit these haven't been available for a couple years. The current upgrades are to R15 DVRs.

Yes.

I consider it an upgrade as I also have a directv DVR and the system it uses for creating season passes, and recording shows is a major pain. Not to mention I'm not about to open it up to increase the hard drive space.
Where as the Hughes has a great system and I can upgrade the hard drive.

I consider it an upgrade.
:)

So, it looks like I'll send back the receiver, power cord and remote. I'm guessing they want the remote back as it's only about 2 weeks old and they figure it should be in mint condition (which it is)

As far as WHAT they wanted back, it was all listed on a sheet they provided in the box.

I wonder how hardcore they will be on the 7 days return aspect. I just shipped it back to them with their box/label. I have no idea if it will get to them with in 7 days. I figured I needed to ship it back out with in 7 days of receiving it.
I just hope they don't hit me with a fee.

I have been charged within 10 days, but once Directv processes the return they credit back the charge.
