I have on CH 94 NFL Net Colts and Bengals. Its got black bars and it doesn't look like HD to me. What gives ? By the way I just had 2 HR20's installed today, its my 1st HD experience at home (And I love it!):D

It's not being broadcast in HD by either teams network sadly. Not broadcasting the NFL in HD should be a crime!

It is just an SD broadcast with pillar bars. Guess we could call it an HD wanta bee.

Another good sports thing is here in Central Florida. D* has the Devil Rays/Yankee game on Channel 57. The same game is OTA on 56-1. The OTA picture looks real good and the D* Channel 57, same broadcast, looks like it was filmed with a cell phone camera, poor PQ.

I don't have OTA. I'm in NY and found the TB vs NY game on CH 95. It looks great to me, But what do I know. This is my first night with HD.
I was kind of POd that the game wasn't on YES It is being broadcast on CH9 here.
They're getting thier butts kicked so I decided to flip and I found it on 95 in HD
I guess you could say losing never looked so good!

Yes, but loudo and the rest of us down here in the Rays market couldn't watch 95 -- had to deal with the Rays OTA network.

I'd agree with you regarding the regular season. For these exhibitions, not so much.

That was the better picture, because the D* channel 57 broadcast has real bad. The OTA 56-1 signal was good.

EDIT: Sorry I just realized you were addressing the NY guy, but refered it to me.

But that was a local station, in Indianapolis, carrying that game as a local broadcast. i just don't understand why they put the pillar bars on it and used the bandwidth, to broadcast it. It was also on the NFL SD channel in the 200's, but without the pillar bars.

Yeah, I understand it was a local broadcast -- which was sort of my point (that it doesn't incredibly bother me at this point if a local station does not yet have the resources to show a preseason game in HD).

As to why it was on channel 94, I suppose that D* just agreed to show the NFL Network HD feed during a block of time (even though for some of that time the channel was only showing upconverted SD). Yes, I think there could probably have been better use of the bandwidth.
