The Board of Directors for the Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association is meeting outside Washington, D.C., today and is set to discuss everything from next year's convention to new board members.

While board members had the 2003 SBCA convention on their minds, it's expected that no decision concerning the show would be made this week. According to some, it appears that a decision on the show will be made early next year. One thing is known about the convention: It won't be held in conjunction with EchoStar's Team Summit 2003, a meeting of the company's retailers that will be held in Atlanta in May.

Today's board meeting will include a private luncheon to remember Taylor Howard, who was killed in a plane crash last week, with remembrances from DirecTV's Eddy Hartenstein and others. More formal events paying tribute to the satellite TV pioneer are expected to be held in the near future, but no specific dates have been scheduled.
