View Full Version : DHP? What happens after a year...

I am wondering if after a customer fulfils their 1-year commitment to DHP then cancels, does DISH pick up the receivers? I have heard no. What happens if the customer cancels during the contract year? They are charged by DISH, but does DISH pick up the receiver?

I ask this because some customers that do the DHP get Sky Angel also, if they cancel DISH after the year or break the contract, can they still use that receiver for Sky Angel? I have heard DISH puts locks on receivers to disable them.

Any input? Do you DHP? Have you ever done a DHP/Sky Angel?

Thanks

No. The customer has to send them back. Dish will send the customer boxes to send them back. Remember, on a DHP, the customer is forever leasing the equiptment, they don't own it.

They are charged the cancellation fee, and they have to return the recievers and the LNBF, or they will be charged for them. It can get real expensive!

This one I'm not sure of, but I'll guess. Since Sky Angel is considered one of the 7 basic programming packages, then they would probably be able to if they didn't get AT50 or up.

However, if they break their contract, that's a different thing. I'll ask around about that.

And with the recievers being locked... since you lease them, you would be the only person using them. Thus, the ony reaon they're locked is due to that fact that you wouldn't be a customer.

Sky Angel is not part of DISH Network they license the use of DISH's technology but DISH does not directly benefit from Sky Angel subscriptions so they do not qualify as DISH Network programming.

YES, it IS a basic programming package. If the customer has it, they do not get charged a $5 monthly access fee. Even though Dish doesn't add the programming, they consider the customer who has sky angel as having a basic programming package.

Well, we have the answer. The minimum for DHP is the AT50 package. If they were to drop AT 50 and keep Dominion, they would have to return the equiptment for the promo, since Dominion doesn't qualify you for DHP in the first place.

Any which way, to keep on the promo, they need to have AT50.

JA, that's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. Since DISH over the phone doesn't deal with DHP, it's hard to get an answer except for coming to dbstalk. Thanks everyone.
