After being a loyal HR10-250 for the last few years, I finally bit the bullet and "upgraded" to an HR20-700 this week. Overall, I'm actually liking it as much or dare I say more than the TiVo.
However, I've been running into a nagging problem that I can't seem to sort out.
Every once in a while, I'll be recording a satellite program, then try to view a program on the other satellite tuner (which inevitably seems to be Tuner 1), and that tuner will come up with "error 771" and show no signal strength in the meters. If I reboot, the tuner comes back with no problem and has 90+ strength pretty much across the board.
I've already tried swapping cables and B-Band converters, it's always Tuner 1 that this happens on, and it's only Satellite signals. And the reboot ALWAYS fixes the problem. I've also seen some occasional pixelization on that, but it too is very sporadic, and appears to be limited to HD channels in the 70s (DSCHD, HDNET, HBOHD). And I never had these issues with the HR10-250 which was in the same exact location, using the same exact cabling (other than the B-band converters)
Is this a known issue/bug or does it sound like I need to demand a new box? I just went through all the trouble of recreating all my season passes, so I'd hate to have to redo that if a new box will do the same thing.
