Why doesn't Dish put release notes on the website for their software "upgrades"? Or am I missing something.

it helps you figure out if you should have it our not. If they release software today for 301's they dont give it to everybody. They test in in lab, if lab goes fine they release it to the real world. If they hit up lets say 20,000 recievers and no side effects they hit another 20,000 or so. Then if all seems good to go they slowly release it in bigger and bigger batchs till all recievers have it. You will actually get it based up your seriel numbers.

Well, thanks for the info, but that wasn't what I was talking about. Are you on the same thread? I just would like to know the differences between say 1.66 and 1.67 for the 501/508.

Do they give the same serial numbers the first release first? If it gets known if this is in fact true then I wonder if there will be more of a demand for a certain serial number on receivers like there is a more demand for other things out there over others on auction sites.

That's kind of blind guessing.

In real life they using a filters based on combination of BootStrap version and BuildConfig ID. The filters cover pretty good known amount of receivers for Dish or Bev.

No serials numbers used for upgrade selection - the numbers taken into your account only ( plus smard card ID ).

Dish software is bug-free that's why they don't post release notes or they'd have to disclose that they actually had to fix something.

I think I know what you are asking now. From what I was told the most recent upgrades for the 301's were for Maintenance (for whatever reason)

The 501/508's were for Maintenance and EZ Remote Support. But I guess you have to know someone that knows someone to get this kind of info. But hey, that's what this site is for.

You know, release notes, like you get with a computer software upgrade. Tells you what is different or added.
I just wish there was one place (like dishnetwork.com) where I could learn what features were added/changed/fixed with each software release.

Nope - the place like that - unfortunatly doesn't exist..
Sometimes they drop a "word or 2" at Tech/Charlie chats, etc
about upcoming upgrades and some "new things" in them..
But that is where it ends...

Trust me - you are not alone at "that" wish...
Suggestion: Call Dishnet and tell them about your wish, give em a suggestion like that...
I doubt though that anything will be done by Them about this..
