3 days ago I received my "MSN 8" upgrade disc in the mail. Called MSN about several issues concerning the upgrade. My email provider (Outlook Express) and email anti-virus protection (Norton 2002) were my biggest concerns.
Upon explaining this, I was assured both would work perfectly together, and nothing would change. Also, I could always go back to MSN 7.
After installing MSN 8, my computer started crashing constantly, so I called MSN again. "We" removed MSN 8, and now my email did not work anymore. While fixing this, I was told Outlook Express was no longer a "POP3 email", but a "Web based email", and that could not be reversed. Norton AV 2002 does not support "Web based email, and I now own a useless program. So something did change.
After almost 7 hours on the phone, all I ended up with (before I got hung up on) was, "we are sorry this happened to you, but we are not responsible!"
Well, who is???
I have a $100.00 virus program rendered useless due to MSN's misinformation, and I am almost afraid of using my computer, as I now feel vulnerable to viruses. My computer is slower than ever. It takes an additional 2 steps to check my email.
Right now I am checking out cable (@attbi.com) and other DSL options as I want to get as far away from MSN as possible. By far the worst customer support I have ever encountered.
