Sorry for all the questions but I'm pretty new to all of this. I have been reading that you need a new 5 LBN dish to get the new HDs......a few pics are below.

It is the slimline but this looks like 3 LBNs, not 5. Is this a problem? I just had it installed a month ago and they told me it would work. If not, I'll be a little pissed.

One more problem - I just purchased and activated another H-20 for the new LCD I bought for the bedroom. Everything works fine except the locals are missing. I called DTV but the rep was clueless. When I did the setup upstairs it does not show my zip code for the local channels section. The H20 in the basement shows my zip code there. The setup did give me an error that it found 5 or 6 'satellites', whatever that means. My current locals required a second dish, so I'm wondering if, for some reason, this dish can't be found upstairs? Could it be that he signal is too weak for some reason? The signal strength is in the 70's on 101 (I believe) versus high 90s in the basement.

You have the 5 LNB dish. One of the LNB's is actually 3. It looks like it is just 101 but it is 99, 101, and 103.

OK, thanks, I was worried for a bit. I started questioning it because the setup in the basement says 3LBN. Should I change that? The installer is the one who did it, so I get to plead ignorance on that one :D

BTW, I really want to thank you guys for answering all these questions. This is the first dish I've owned and some of this stuff gets complicated.

If you have a HR20 or H20 in the basement then yes it needs to be changed to 5 LNB dish.

LOL, thanks..........remodeling is fun..........er, not really, but its nice to have a new bathroom/kitchen. My house was all 80s before being ripped apart.

Anyone have a thought on the second problem? Again, much appreciated.

The slimline you have is the new dish to pick up the new hd channels. It's the same dish they're going to install for me october 8th for the hd channels. Don't listen to customer service or the installers most of the time.

Re-Run the guided setup for the sat. At some point (I think its right after it asks which multiswitch you have) you will get a screen that asks if you have the 72.5 sat and/or the 95 sat. From the pic, it appears that you have the second dish for your SD locals. Change the 72.5 to yes, let it complete the process. Your SD locals should then come in. If not, you may need to have D* resend the authorization to you box.

If you have a second dish for your local channels, then you need to repeat the satellite setup again and make sure when it comes to the screen about additional dishes, that you set 72.5 to installed instead of not installed.

That should bring the locals in.

I tried that. It asks for the 72.5 and 95. I checked both of them but still no luck, then I tried just 72.5. I did specify my zip code and I didn't have a problem getting them with the SD receiver I just replaced. The DTV rep did ask me for the last 4 digits of the card # and I believe she did try to re-send them to the receiver, as well.

The confirmation page did show 72.5 as OK, so I'm thinking this is an issue with the card? Not sure. Maybe I'll try to call back and see if someone else can figure it out.
