According to Anime News Network (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=2840), TechTV will start showing some anime series. No specific series was mentioned, nor any start dates.

Gee, I wonder what anime series TechTV can pick up cheaply.

Tech TV Anime Block Details (2002-11-29 02:44:36)
On Thanksgiving TechTV started airing commercials for their new anime block which they are calling "Anime Unleashed". The commecrial features Serial Expierments Lain (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=166), Crest of the Stars (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=14), and Betterman (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=350). While the commercial says "Coming Soon," it was announced on "The Screen Savers" a week ago that Anime would come to TechTV as of December 30th. Thans to Kris Granholm for this info. [ No More ]

I can't speak about the Crest Of The Stars and Betterman, but Serial Experiment Lain is a highly recommended series. From the first DVD volume:

We're all connected...

There is the world around us, a world of people, tactile sensation and culture. There is the wired world, inside the computer, of images, personalities, virtual experiences and a culture all of its own. The day after a classmate commits suicide, lain, a thirteen-year-old girl, discovers how closely the two worlds are linked when she receives an email from the dead girl: "I just abandoned my body. I still live here..." Has the line between the real world and the wired world begun to blur?

I have all four volumes of this DVD set. It's basically a "thinking persons" Anime series which isn't action oriented, but rather towards the thinking person. You have to watch the series twice just to pick up some of the sutile details, so it may not be everyone's cup of tea. However, it is on Anime On DVD's Recommends (http://www.animeondvd.com/discdata/essential/serial_experiments_lain.htm), and the opening theme song (in English) is downloadable from the BoA's (the band) web site (http://www.boaweb.co.uk/audio.htm).

Please give it a try. Surprisingly, it's VERY appropriate for TechTV.

But are they going to run stupid comments at the bottom of the screen like they do on the Thunderbirds?
