Question:

Can I use 2 21 switches in cascade to combine an "American" dish (the term we use for a 110/119 sat) and an "International" dish (61.5 or 148) for a single receiver?

I would use 2 singles lnb's on the Dish 500 for the 110/119 - with a 21 switch to combine them - then a single lnb for the 61.5 Dish 300 - the line from the 21 switch combining tje 110/119 would go to the second 21 switch with the line from the 61.5 and the output to the receiver.

Hope I explained it okay.

The reason I ask is I was told it could be done and tried it but when I did a check switch 110 was missing. I checked everything but could not get 110. I took out the 21's and replaced the singles (which were Legacy's - not that it matters) with DP singles and put in a 34 switch and v'iola - 110 odd/even, 119 odd/even, 61.5 odd/even - or in a nutshell it worked.

Thoughts?

You can do this with a LEGACY TWIN or LEGACY QUAD on the DISH 500. You can't do this with DUAL or SINGLE LNBFs, or with DISH PRO equipment.

No - boba explained the acceptable ways to use SW21's in a cascade.

I might add that you could also use the SW42, and maybe the SW44, in cascade as well..

Is it because 21's cannot be cascaded? The Twin and Quad combine the 110 and 119 so I would just use 1 21 then.

SW-21s can't be cascaded to each other they can be used in cascades with TWIN,QUADS,SW-44 & SW-64s.

To use the dishes and LNBFs you describe for reception of 119, 110 and 61.5, you would need an SW42 and an SW21 and the correct model of receiver. Not all receivers support cascading. The SW42 is no longer offered, but some have been purchased through the second-hand avenues.

So to clarify - it is not possible to cascade two 21's. Thanks

But, you could obtain ( or make yourself ) SW21X what is mimic of SW42 or any by your wish .
