had a somewhat heavy bad storm wednesday night. lost satellite.
have not been able to probably reset since then. finally yesterday evening it came somewhat back up...except that "acquiring guide data" box is stuck in the corner. checked the signal levels and 103, 110 and 119 are all somewhere around the normal levels (actually slightly lower, but there are lots of clouds and still some spot rain showers, so I expect a slight drop off).
the kicker is sat 101, the main one. It's around 45-50. not good, obviously and helps explain why the "acquiring guide data" might be stuck (or why I can't restart the box properly).
My friend, who installs D*, is in denver and cannot look at it until monday. we talked it through and it seems that it is not an alignment issue, but rather a bad lnb problem. specifically maybe the middle one is cracked and allowing rain/moisture in.
Does this sound about right to you guys?
Any other possibilities to cause this problem?
Can I remove the "acquiring guide data" box without resetting? Or should I attempt a "hard rest" even if my signal is around 50?
When I get home and check it out, and if I can visibly see a problem, is there something simple I can do as a stopgap until the lnb is properly replaced on monday?

If it's stuck there I would reset, you've got nothing to lose at this point..

What brand/model Receiver or DVR do you have? Typically a "reset" won't erase anything or cause any issues, so go ahead.
By the way, if it's the "middle" LNB that's cracked then you should be having problems with the 110-deg "SatC" satellite. When you're looking at the front of the dish, the 101-deg LNB is on the left. This is assuming you have a 3-LNB oval dish.

I have the h20-700 dvr and the slimline dish.

And the 5 LNB too [given that the "left" is the centerline LNB].

Could you have loose and wet connectors?

its possible.
when i got home, all transpoders where geting some signal in the upper 40's. Some where as high as 70. When I left in the morning, half were 0's and nothing was over 50-ish.
I was able to reset the box fine and the "acquiring guide data" box was gone (thank god!).
Then we got heavy rain. I actually wasn't home the other night when things got funked up to begin with. So this time I was able to monitor what has happening a little closer this time.
101 shot down to almost all 0's. 110 went from mid 90's to mid 80's. 103, my locals went down to the 70's.
So during heavy rain 101 pretty disappeared.
It didn't rain all day friday and the sun was out for some of the day.
This is leading me to the conclusion that moisture is involved in some way. Whether it's at the connector or the lnb I don't know. I tried looking for moisture in the lnb this morning, but I don't know if its started to dry out. The connectors are more than finger tight, but perhaps water is still getting in.

I think you should check all exposed connectors as water can be a problem.
