There is something that begins on the 10th. However, the free Showtime is the last weekend of the month.

Yes... getting a Showtime preview after the HDs go live would be nice :)

The only thing I can tell you is that it's a show that is one of the premium channels. I can't recall what it is. I had it in my e-mail from D* at home. I can check it and post it later. I didn't see anything on D*'s web site, but I would expect it to be posted soon.

Why does it matter? Showtime is in HD. When the new HD channels go live, you will see Showtime West, which is a 3-hour delayed feed. I don't remember seeing other channels promised.

If you subscribe to Showtime, you will also get TMC in HD when new HD channels are launched. I don't know if TMC is included in the preview, though.

I believe the preview is to promote Dexter Season 2. You will see the 1st episode as a teaser. Hey, the scheme worked on me. I got hooked and became a subscriber last year when they ran the preview. There are very few shows my wife wants. If she wants Dexter, she gets Dexter. Besides, Showtime original programs appeal to me more than HBO at this moment. I hope HBO will step up their act soon.

Right now D* is showing the first seasons of Dexter and Brotherhood on Channel 101. But the episodes are edited.

Also, D* has a special rate now for Showtime - $6.95/month for 3 months.

They usually include news about free previews in the Directv Monthly Email Newsletter. You can sign up on the D* website. I don't think I have ever seen an email specifically just to announce a free preview.
