Right now I have HBO and Cinemax, I want to drop Cinemax for either Showtime or Starz......which one should I pick and why?
Honestly, my family and I can't make our minds up.........

Starz by far IMO. I can't remember the last time I watched a movie on Showtime. My wife likes the Chris Issak show, but other than that I don't think I've ever seen her watch it.

Do your tastes run to the type of films on Sundance (Showtime) or do they center on mainstream Hoolywood fare? Are youa DISh or a DTV customer? If so what basic package do you have it might contain some Starz or SHO already.

I dont think a straight up poll will necessarily result in the best choice for your family. But hey it does soud interesting.

I had free Showtime and even when it's free, it wasn't worth it!
Starz all the way!

None of the above. When I last watched the premium movie channels, they were pan-and-scanning the movies that are meant to be watched in their original aspect ratios.

Besides, I have most of the movies anyways on DVD.

That would be a better value, if you must pay for a premium movie service.

John, if you regularly buy or rent new release DVD's before they hit PPV, you may find that Starz! is a duplicate waste of your money. Tyson fights Etienne on Showtime in February.

I find myself watching Showtime and HBO more than the other ones just because I will watch the HD channels. I tend to look what is on HD first then if nothing I go to the guide and see what the other movie channels are showing.

If I were looking into premium movies first would be HBO, good choice John for keeping it. But as for deciding between Sho and Starz, I would have to say Sho because I just happen to like a lot of Paramount movies. I don't know why, I just do. 15 of my 40 DVDs are from Paramount. Plus Showtime has a better selection of channels then Starz, IMO. I would never watch Starz Family, might watch Black Starz, if it's something with Freeman, Snipes, or Washington and I don't like Starz Theater showing 4 movies a week.

Well, I said Showtime because I have it for their original programming and because the few true HD transfers they do are always in the original aspect ratio, unlike HBO.

John, what did you decide on?

I canceled Cinemax and chose Starz solely based on these polls. :)

I do agree with Z'Loth, I don't like any of the premium channels. Why pay so much for half the movie?

Though Showtime has Boxing and original series, their movies generally SUCK! :) Starz is only movies and they are generally pretty darned good.

See ya

With rumors of Cinemax being a $3 add to HBO maybe you should reconsider.
