Can anybody tell me what would constitute excellent, good, and barely useable signal levels on the setup screen, for a 721 and a 301? I've been pleasantly surprized for being this far north. (I think!)

I don't know how far north you are but with any DISH system you will loose picture in the 30-40% range. From that point up your picture quality will be perfect the higher the signal strength the less chance you will have of loss in inclement weather. Dish asks for a minimum of 70% signal strength at time of installation.

I am usually in the mid 70s to low 80s (when things are perfect) on 119 only from 58d18m11s North

May not help, but I have a "usuable" signal down to around 40-50 points. That's with some noticeable PQ degradation, tho. Everything is ok around 70 or so. Typical for me is >110 at 40.134°N

I must be living right- I was pretty worried about it before hand- but I generally show 92% and 98%, never been below 86 percent. (Ahh, 'never' meaning two weeks <g>.)

On a tiny island, way offshore Maine, alone in the savage sea,-
Ahh, on Bailey Island, Me. which is attached to the mainland by a bridge and is outside of Brunswick, Me or 15 air miles NNW of Portland, Me. The only signal loss I've seen is when I run an air cleaner near the receiver, it drops it a couple of points. Go figure.
