Anyone see this? I have 5 TV's in my living room and I like to leave one on Game Mix. Every ten minutes or so the screen dims and "Screen Safe Mode? appears in the lower left hand corner. Any way to turn this off?

Is it a TV issue or a DirecTV issue?

We'll need more information about your TV (make, model, firmware version), receiver model and software version, connection type, etc. Some TVs sense a signal that doesn't change much and drop into screen saver mode. And I think this can be adjusted.

Cheers,
Tom

It wasn't the TV, I leave it on MLB Game Mix all the time. The D* box is R15-300. It hasn't happend again since the first hour of games.

It happened to me once while leaving my HR20 on the US Open Mix channel. I came back to find the screen dimmed and text in the lower right that said something like "screen safe mode".

yep...exactly what I saw. Interesting because I always have the MLBEI Game Mix on (except today) and have never seen this before.

Sorry, I'd like to help diagnose, but I'm fixated on the sentence, "I have 5 TV's in my living room."

Screen Saver? (the floating DirecTV symbol?)

Or Screen Safe... aka something your TV is doing?

Screen "Safe" especial words in the bottom left, is not something that DirecTV does with their systems.

For those of you that saw that... what TV's do you have?

No, it wasn't the screen saver. I see that all the time when I view the XM channels.

This - I'm 99.9% positive - is a function of the DirecTV receiver. The font of the text message was not what my TV uses for any of it's functions. It looked like the same font you see for "Searching for Satellite" or any other standard message. Very modern. My TV is 4 years old and uses a block, monospace type font for all its functions. This message was definitely not that.

In answer to your question, my TV is a Toshiba 34HFX83, 34" CRT HDTV.
Connected with component if that makes a difference...

It's defiantly not my TV, it's an Orion TV1943A. It wasn't the floating D* symbol either. It was just that the screen went dim, you could still see the Game Mix, but it was dark. It only happened during the first hour of games, and I constantly watch the MLBEI Game Mix on this TV.

I am having the same issue, definitely seems to be the box and not the TV and only happens on the game mix channel after a period of inactivity. Anybody figure out how to disable?

I had this same problem for the first several weeks of the season, and through a very helpful reply from these very boards, I found out that all you have to do to turn this off is to press the '-' (dash) key three times while on the game mix channel.

Oh, and thanks to the post above. The Screen Safe Mode on the NFL Game Mix was pretty annoying. I'll try it out next week.

Was there a confirmation that it turned off? Does three dahses turn it back on?

I'd like to hear more about this... it's the first I've heard.

NFL Game Mix comes on today. Can anybody confirm that the three dashes work? If this is incorrect does anybody know for sure how to turn off the SCREEN SAFE MODE when the Game Mix Channel has been on idle for a few minutes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
