We've had some rain that moved through the day earlier. The storms have passed and I was still getting some pixelation on my local HD's. I did a menu-reset and my local channels weren't there after it rebooted. I did a hard-reset using the red button and they still aren't there. The local channels also weren't on one of the other R15's. My receiver is an HR20.

What should I do?

Do you mean all of your local channels, or just the HDTV local channels?

All local channels, HD and SD. They aren't showing up on the guide and I can't switch to them. One of the R15's has them coming in fine.

You probably just need to "reauthorize" your HR20. You can call DirecTV and do it over the phone, or you can do it online at DirecTV.com. It will probably reauthorize itself within a few hours.

Is that the page where it says to refresh your services?

Yes. This will resend authorization signal to all of your equipment. Usually it's fixed right away, but Sundays can be slow due to NFL Sunday Ticket's high bandwidth usage.

Well, I did it for my receiver and so far it hasn't done anything and it's been a couple of minutes.

The rain could have gotten in one or more of the lines, or in the multiswitch inside the dish (or the external multiswitch if you have one) or in the LNB, and be causing problems on only a few transponders that happen to carry your locals. A "pull the plug and wait a few minutes" reset might fix if it is not what I wrote above, otherwise it will likely work when it dries out, but only until the next rain or until it corrodes it enough to cause permanent issues.

I hope this isn't the case. Have only had DirecTV since Wednesday.

My 103b satellite setup is failing. Getting straight zeroes on the transponder. Talked to a CSR and he said they are doing a lot of work and that it should come back on within 24 hours. As of now I am not receiving any locals. He said if they aren't back on then to have dish realigned.

Update:

They all randomly came back on their own. LOL

I had a similar experience...had to RBR my HR20. Lost all locals...OTA/HD/SD. Reauthorizing via the web several times did zilch, so I called DIRECTV.

That got it working again....although he told me it was b/c I had low signal strength on my transponders (99 0 99 0 98 24)...which is funny b/c that's what it's always been. It was also weird since I didn't have SD locals either...and the signal strengths were fine on that satellite.

After much prodding, he reauthorized and they popped up to his surprise.

On a side note...should I be concerned about transponders 2, 4 and 6 having no signal? If I remember correctly, those are spot beams with other cities' local channels, but I'd love if someone could confirm.

Thanks!

My 103b failed the test as well, but he wasn't concerned about it...probably due to the same reason that was previously given.

I think that is normal pretty much anywhere. Someone will correct me if I am wrong lol.

Thanks...that's my understanding as well...I searched the forums...but when the official line of D* is that I need to have 100s across the board...best to ask first. :nono:

It happened to me a week or so ago. I just reset the box from the menu and they came back no problemo.

2 and 6 are NOT spot-beams.

You have a problem!

I've had a similar problem maybe 5 times recently. All locals (SD and HD) will disappear from my HR20 for no more than a couple minutes. When they come back I have to add the channels back to my favorites lists.

The disappearance doesn't seem to be happening at any particular time of the day or be related to weather. Neither have I had any problems up until just the last couple of weeks. Not sure yet if any of my other receivers have been affected because the problem seems to correct itself before I can get to them.

I started a thread about this (probably in the wrong place) regarding losing Denver local channels.

Ever since the latest software download (coincidence?) it has happened every few days. Turn on the TV, it's on channel 201, all locals are missing from the guide.

On Saturday night we lost them completely for about 10 minutes when getting the message "acquiring guide info". We also lost everything on the ToDo list for this week.

Other Denver folks are reporting similar probs with local channels.

BTW this only happens on our HR20 and not our Tivo.

I am in Northwest Illinois and am having the same problems. I am waiting again for the tech to show up (4th time in 3 weeks) to correct this problem. The tech is here now and he states that everyone who have a 2 dish setup are experiencing the same problems. The dishes and DVR plus (HR15) were installed last month on the 14th. We'll see if this fixes anything.

I am just not confident it is the dish that is causing the problems. The locals never go out on the R15's. Now granted I can't check the HD locals since I have the only hi-def receiver. I think it is some sort of software clitch on the HR20. If it wasn't, it wouldn't be so easily fixed with a reboot.
