Why does FOX advertise all week 1 football games in HD when this is not true? I watched the Vikes / Falcons game and the PQ was terrible, then I find out, they broadcasted that game in 480i and upconverted it to 720p, not cool.

Your source of this information?

I thought the PQ was fine.

The ONLY game not in HD this week was Tenn Vs Jax on CBS.

I've gotta agree with MikeR7...I watched the Vikings game today, too and it looked fine (on KMSP // Fox 9). Even had a comment from a friend who watched it (his first game in HD). I thought CBS looked bad though on the long shot, fine when they got up close.

The close up shots looked like HD quality, however the 50 yard line camera could not have been HD.

Or maybe it had to do with only 6 states getting the game, and the thought of not to many people in Montana own an HD T.V

check it out.

Everything that I saw of that game looked fine.

I have to agree with the comments about the Vikings/Falcons game. The close-in camera shots were ok, but the wide-outs of the action were terrible. There is no way that camera was HD.

It's not a big deal, the Vikings won and that's all that matters. But I still have to disagree with you, the Vikings game was not in HD. Just cause you see a game in 16x9 doesn't mean they are broadcasting in 720p or 1080i.

Some of the networks have had a mixture of HD and SD cameras. I didn't see the game, but could this be the case? Just watch the game on NBC and everything else seems like HD.

Yeah, that could be the case. There is this, as of Friday Sep 7 the game was on the verge of being blacked out locally, maybe that's why the game was upconverted, since FOX was unsure if the game would even be televised locally.

Did you watch it on a local? Maybe your local channel had an issue.

I thought the same thing myself. The Eagles-Packers game & Bears-Chargers game were terrible HD quality. However, the Giants-Cowboys game at night offered the pleasing HD quality we've come to enjoy/expect.

And why aren't ALL games broadcast in HD? Our hometown team (Titans) was the only game not broadcast in HD! Why is that??

I watched the entire Vikings game and the picture quality was very good IMO.

I watched it on the Superfan channel (725) and the wide shots were obviously upconverted. Switching between that and another game (MIA - WAS) on CBS showed an obvious difference on the exact same equipment. Fox's close-ups were fine.

I thought the PQ was excellent across the board.

AND the vikes won too!

I tried watching the Packers game OTA and that was badly butchered by the local station as they bitstarved it for their SD sub-channel (or had some other problem). This is the first time that the NFL ST channel was better than an OTA feed for me.

And the NFL ST channel as pretty good.

I did glance at the Vikes game from time to time. It didn't standout in my mind one way or another in my short peeks.

Cheers,
Tom

I thought the bears and chargers game was the best quality hd that I saw on sunday. The pictue quality in the vikings game was terrible I have to admit.

Same here, on the Bears game. The PQ on the Sunday Ticket channel was fantastic. Unfortunately the outcome was not. :(

Often times for long shots or some exterior shots they will use SD cameras still and upconvert. So you get some pixelation. But during gametime the cameras are almost all HD.

I watched the entire Vikes game and PQ was excellent.

Yeah Bears/Chargers game was excellent. Amazing what wonderful natural lighting can do for cameras.

And the outcome was excellent.

My 3 favorite teams - the Vikes ... and whomever is playing the Bears and Packers.

Actually the Chargers have been my second favorite team since Kellen Winslow in that Miami game way back when.
