what are you watching?

Not a huge football fan myself, and finding a hard time getting anything good on TV.

I've taken to watching whatever Mrs. Shadow is watching on HGTV.

I don't have ST, but I did watch a couple of games yesterday. Currently I have not been watching TV, cuz I got hooked on House MD 3 seasons late. I've been catching up on that.... just finished the first season.

I also am a fairly recent HD subscriber, so I'm still fascinated with HDNet and HDNet Movies, MMA on Friday Nights, etc. :P

Seeing as its Monday. I'm not watching ST or SF but rather Monday Night Football. :D Ask me this next week...

Edit: I'm watching the Raiders on ST or hopefully SF.

No football here, but through October it's mostly baseball & highlight shows. I also have a shameful addiction to court shows, and they are just now starting the new season. :sure: We also record a lot of documentaries & history shows that the whole family watches together. There are a few odds & ends kinds of shows like Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares & How Clean is Your House. Once the fall shows start back up, the only ones we care about are The Office, SNL & Smallville.

I switched between ESPNHD-TNTHD and a lot of DVR eposides of Scrubs/Seinfeld and movies from HBOHD

Being a Jets fan (I know, I know ...) and living in the NY area, I have no need for Sunday Ticket -- I get all the Jets games just fine!

Now, having said that ... I've been alternating between spending time with my 3-month-old son, and when he's napping, playing games on my new Wii. I love it!

Although neither was an option yesterday since those sports succumb to the almighty NFL in their scheduling. Football is secondary until the motorsports seasons are over.

I love ST.... really the main reason I have put up with D* all these years (sub par PQ, sub par HD programming until D10 is activated). Can't wait for the mpeg4 programming. My new HT set up is all about ST :D . Now if I can just get the H20-600's from overheating. As Doug said, fortunately my wife enjoys fball as much as I do.

I'm a big sports fan, but doubt I'll ever get Sunday Ticket. I travel every week Monday or Tuesday thru Friday night. The weekends are my time with the wife and kids (2 and 4 years old), so we don't watch much TV at all except for late in the evening. Even gave up Fantasy Football 3 years ago (after playing for over 10 years) and now I pretty much only watch MNF (watching it right now, actually) and highlights (I'll occasionally catch parts of games). Don't even miss it anymore (the first season was rough).

The company I founded way back in 1985 was the first to offer Fantasy Football, Baseball and Hockey Online (it was called The Grandstand on AOL's Q-Link, PC-Link, and later America Online service).

I used to live for watching football...and got a C-Band dish to do so (along with a DirecTV/USSB dish and a Ku stats feed dish from SportsTicker).

I liked football so much I had season tickets to the NJ Generals (Herschel Walker!) of the USFL and the Orlando Rage (It wasn't good but it was fun) of the XFL.

Lately, the quality of play in the NFL has become so mediocre I actually canceled ST...the price was also getting to the point of being obnoxious.

Anyway, to end this drivel...i watched baseball (MLB EI) and since my wife is a lifetime Eagles fan we also watched the Eagles/Packers game (which DirecTV stopped recording because of some bad guide data).

Steelers are on KDKA and WPGH, both in my locals, so I don't have to have ST to get my football fix on.

Sunday Ticket is my reason for existing. It and fantasy football are my hobby. I never get complaints about the cost since my wife spends waaaaay more then that on yarn per year. :)

My wife likes football (loves hockey!) and she'll watch games with me. But she eventually gets sick of it by the end of the day. She'll watch "her" movies on DVD on the other TV when she's done for the day. So in other words, she's not trying to watch TNT-HD or anything. ;)

It is a knock down drag out if hockey is on Sunday during football. That's an interesting one but usually hockey wins out.

Anything but football!!!

Turned on CBS this Sunday to catch 60 minutes. Forgot that football agony season had started and the show was delayed 30+ minutes even though the schedule showed a 6PM start. Is CBS stupid or do they do this intentionally? For as many years as I can remember, 60 minutes has started 30+ minutes late every week during football season because the game always runs over their anticipated time. How many years will it take them to figure out they should schedule the Sunday evening shows 30 minutes later. Of course, all shows that evening are then 30+ minutes late. Rather than be bored by 30 minutes (usually about 2 minutes of play time) of football, I will always switch to another channel or watch a recorded show. I never switch back to CBS that evening even if interested in something due to the staggered schedule. The same applies to other channels that show Friday, Saturday and Monday games.

Living in Texas, we are inundated with football; pro, college, high school, junior high. Drives me up the wall since you just can't escape it.

I guess I should direct you to Interstate 10 or 45, but I will be nice. My wife doesn't like the pro game, and I could care less about high school. Texans in even partially glass houses should not throw stones - or footballs.

How about them Cowboys (and their awful defense)??

I have always said that ST is D* "killer app". To me it is the only differentiation between E* and D*. You can tell me E* has more HD or VOOM or that D* will be the leader in HD shortly, that is all a short term (relatively) comparison. Equipment? Who cares it is either a (1) silver or (2) black box. If there was nothing else to differentiate the two, I might have jumped ship last year when D10 was a vague promise.

The rest of the house is very warm and inviting.... designed and accessorized by my wife. :) This part of the basement remodel was all about the HT. I guess we can blame D* and ST for all the TV's. My wife also got a wine closet she has wanted and a new work area (works from home) out of the deal :D. Work area is not very exciting, but fortunately she likes the HT too.

Not watching tons of TV these days. Lts of fun with VOD goodies. Was watching Masters of Science Fiction but it seems to have disappeared. Mostly on Sundays I spend a lot of time with my wife and two daughters. I watch Football on locals and only in HD.

I had my 23 inch HDTV set next to my 50 inch HDTV on Sunday, so I could watch Sunday NFL ticket on the 50 inch, and a local baseball game in HD on the 23 inch. So I was watching baseball in HD between plays and commercials when I wasn't watching Sunday NFL ticket. :)

Actually, we dropped ST this year, after coming to D* 3 years ago specifically for it. Made the move to HD a couple months ago and just love it so much, we decided we prefer to watched the local football games in HD, over the ST games not in HD. We don't like the idea of being forced to SuperFan just for HD games, so we dropped the Ticket altogether.
The bottom line is though, that we were watching football, just not Sunday Ticket.

Rich,
Sweet setup but how the heck do you keep up with all the different inputs and outs and all that entails not to mention trying to watch things all at once?

Rich,

Lots of planning and labeling. I had a general contractor finish my basement, but I did all the AV / low voltage wiring. There are two AV panels behind the entertainment center that contain all the inputs and outputs. There is an H20 hooked to each of the LCD's. An HR20 is hooked up to the plasma. I use a Harmony 890 (with RF) to control everything so that I can control the H20's and HR20 independently. It took some trial and error with placement of the ir emitters to get them to work with the H20's.

I mainly use the extra TV's for sports. Watching several games is not difficult since there are fequent starts and stops. Most of our friends are also fans out out of market teams so they can have their own TV when they come over.

Late to this thread, so a belated :D.

They could take that channel out of the lineup and someone would have to tell me it was missing.

Don't blame football. CBS didn't carry any 4 PM NFL games. The US Open is what caused the delay for 60 Minutes.

Lately, the quality of play in the NFL has become so mediocre I actually canceled ST...the price was also getting to the point of being obnoxious.

Anyway, to end this drivel...i watched baseball (MLB EI)

I dropped my sub to NFL ST, not because of the price, but because I won't be home on Sundays to see all the 1 PM and 4 PM games. Even with the price, I still think ST is a much better value than MLBEI. Baseball games are like buses, you miss one and they'll be another one to come along shortly. The 17 week NFL Season is over in a snap, while the MLB Season is a marathon. And if ever there was a game that needed time management, it's Baseball.

AMEN!

We tend not to watch TV during the week. By the time I get home it's 6:00 or later, and my 3 year old is heading off to bed at 8:00... A few nights a week we're out at the grandparents, but it's pretty much the same thing there.... we have dinner and then we just play around, read books, etc, etc...

So we usually spend Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon watching our shows from the week... which right now isn't all that much. Monk, Big Brother, the occasional episode of Leno - if I see something worth watching!

Once hockey season rolls around though, nothing else matters!

As for Sunday Ticket, the boost in HD content this year really ups the enjoyment level.
