Laptops have always been a hot item but a 50-year-old scientist did not realise to what extent until he burned his penis.

The previously healthy father of two remembered feeling a burning sensation after he had been writing a report at home for about an hour with the computer on his lap.

He noticed a redness and irritation the following day but it was not until he was examined by a doctor that he realised how much damage had been done.

Ouch....

Sadly the other forum beat us to all the obvious bad jokes.

They are so much more dignified over there. lol

Not sure which other forum of which you speak, but other forums I read not DBS-related were having a field day with this.

I know my P3 1 gig gets nice and toasty. Of course the CPU is ALWAYS at 100% utilization, but still.... ;)

An I was worried that my laptop was going to burn a hole in my wallet?

Something must have been wrong with this laptop. I've done that (put it on my lap) a lot and never had a problem. A PIII system is only slightly warm to the touch. Me guessing broken cooling fan (if it had one) or blocked air vents...
