Hi All,

Just got my HR20 installed today, and was trying to get Networking enabled. I did the Network Setup, and it said that it completed successfully, but when I hit MENU, I don't see the option for Music & Pictures.

I have rebooted the HR20 twice now and still the same issue.

The HR20 got the 0 x 18a download this afternoon.

Help please!

TIA,

Is your computer on? You won't see the option for Music & Photos unless you computer is on. Does the HR20 show up on your computer network (some firewalls will block it)? And what is your computer setup? OS? Which version of WMP?

Have you set up your computer yet? Are you using WMP to share music and photos?

Exactly the same problem I've been having. Latest version WMP + Vista + VIIV software.

There are some excellent guides in the HR20 Information subforum.

For me, all I had to do was turn on the PC, go to WMP, right-click "Library", click "Media Sharing", then Push "Settings", click "automatically add new devices" then leave the PC on overnight. It was there by the morning.

Exactly, except mine showed up instantaneously once I uninstalled my third party firewall (the CA firewall that comes free with Roadrunner). Simply turning the firewall off still prevented WMP from seeing the HR20.

FWIW I did not have to disable the firewall in Norton Internet Security 2007.

Further clarification: I only had to uninstall the Roadrunner/CA firewall for my PC to see my HR20. I have the Windows firewall on and it does not prevent the 2 from seeing each other (as long as you have WMP sharing enabled in the Windows firewall). So it's not absolute that a firewall will prevent sharing, just a possibility.

What is tiversity?

It is another media server like WMP11.

I prefer tversity to WMP because WMP can sometimes put trackers on MP3s

My old man has WMP11, Stuart, but he doesn't even have those options available in that program. Weird. Even clicking on tools, library, etc. gets him nowhere.

I don't have my HR20 networked, but I use Tversity with my PS3. I put it hands down superior to WMP11.

1. It's open source
2. It can read just about every format there is, because of #1. Hpw many formats does M$oft, not like and refuse to support?
3. Real time transcoding, if your player does not support a file format Tversity will attempt to re-encode in real time. This can cause quality degradation in some cases but the content sill makes it out.
