Is anyone else having problems with their volume between HD channels and SD channels. I have my HR-20 connected directly to my TV with an HDMI cable. When listing to the local HD channels the volume is real low that I have to turn the volume up the whole way on the TV. But when I switch to the local SD channels then I have to turn it half way down. The satelite SD channels are like the local SD channels with the volume at half way. I don't believe there is a problem with the receive but rather at DirecTV's end with the rebroadcast of the HD locals. But trying to get it through a CR it almost impossible. They want you to do this and that. I would like for their technical people to check to volume output at their end. I even switch to using cable and it made no difference. :nono:

That is pretty typical...
When you are going to the Local HD, you are then going into DD5.1 mode usually... and pretty much, that is always lower in volume then the "stereo" sound you get on SD.
If you have OTA setup, you will probalby see the same results with the audio as well.

I do not have this receiver hooked up with OTA. I am just going from D*T HD boardcast to the SD boardcast of the same channel. The TV is Vizio in the kitchen so its not hooked up to a receiver. Just using the volume control and speakers on the TV. I don't notice in HR-20 DVR that is hooked up to an amplifer in the living room. Mostly likely becasue it is going thru the amp.

As Earl says, it's a characteristic of DD 5.1 audio and there's really nothing you, or DirecTV, can do about it. There's been lots of discussion about the issue at TV technical conferences, and there's some interesting info at the Dolby web site if you can wade through it and the technical stuff does not overwhelm you.
