Yet another Network question

The other day I found a post from a guy that gave some registry changes. I now for the life of me can not find the post.

There is absolutely no reason to need to use any registry changes. DO you have WMP11 running? Is your HR20 getting an IP addy on the same subnet as your main media sharing PC? please give details.

my connection to the HR20 seems to come and go. I see a disconect message while I am watching TV sometime.

There can be several reasons for the disconnect, pc going to sleep, network device going into power saver mode, etc. That would be a home PC setting that you will need to discover and adjust. The media server software may be running under a user name instead of the system and when you log out, it goes off.

There are a few ideas and places to start looking.

I personally do not start the media server software up on the PC unless I want to use the function and see pictures/music.

Agreed. Unless you are using a 3rd party firewall you should not have to change anything to share media.
