Obsessive? Who? Are We There Yet?
:bang
Jeez, I understand. I can't watch much more than 20 minutes of our current HD lineup without jumping online to see if anything is new. :nono:
My girlfriend doesn't grasp what I am talking about when I talk about new HD channels. She may understand if I end up ignoring her on Saturday. I am hoping to have more college football in HD if you know what I mean. She gets upset when I talk about a new flat screen for upstairs, but right now I don't have an HD tv up their. She will be mad, but seriously I won't care.

What a letdown. With that thread title, I was expecting pics. :)
My fiance doesnt understand why I keep putting the HR20 on the Signal Test page for 103B :P
I've been telling my wife that HGTV and Food Network will be in glorious High Definition......she says "Oh thats nice, are you off the computer yet?????".

My girlfriend tell me that I should get out more instead of waiting for the HD to show up.
This from a woman who has bought 2 LCD HD televisions and wants to buy an even bigger one!
And to think that when I was a child, all we could get was 4 channels over rabbit ears!

You need to fix that situation -- it will help your HD life (if not your sex life). My wife and I are both retired. To help ensure we can stay that way, I've created an itemized, 40 year budget spreadsheet based on our costs for the past 7 years (4 years in retirement). Included in that plan is a new laptop for each of us every other year. It's doubtful we'll buy them that often, but it's in the budget. As much time as we both use a computer, our marriage would not have survived without two. If you think that's too much for you, first think about how much time you use a computer now and how much time you used one 5 and 10 years ago. And what you might want to do with a computer in the future. Take my advice, find a way to get her a computer.

And you my friend, are the envy of us all. While we both may have a computer and I'm more than willing to invest in a new HD (for her), she says it can wait until prices drop more than 50%. But that's ok, me and my 50" Sony are quite happy together. And sometimes she even watches a sci-fi rerun in HD with me. :p

Seriously, I told her that all her Food Network shows would be in HD... she doesn't give a damn...
I bet once she SEES them she'll be all over it!!

"But honey, shouldn't we BOTH be able to talk incessantly about things that don't interest the other?" ;)
(please don't tell my wife I posted a comment like that....)

Tell me about it. And while we're on the topic (or off topic) never, never use the dash-dash to delete shows from the Playlist. I did that two weeks ago, but it turned out my list was behind a little or I just wasn't paying enough attention and I deleted 10 episodes (the whole folder) of Cheers that I've never seen. It took me two weeks to get back so I could watch Cheers again. (Fortunately, late last night I renewed the faith and got my Cheers fix -- 9 more to go -- and more in the schedule.) And ALWAYS use the red button delete.

Or maybe what she meant was, hey, get off the computer, you spend too much time there... Not that she wanted to use it. Whether it's TV, online gaming or DBSTalk surfing, they just don't understand...

She likes me to think that is what she intends, but once I get off....she grabs the computer.
Nice tactics.:nono2: ;)

In efforts to help the casual readers here I propose re-titling this thread. Based on the OP which starts: "Just said she's sick and tired..." Some possibilities come to mind:
"My girlfriend is sick and tired of waiting"
"My sick girlfriend"
"My sick and tired girlfriend"
"GF HD W8"
And the one that applies to so many of us
"My girlfriend (spouse) thinks we're all geeks with this HD obsession!"
All in fun,
Tom

It's all about GF or wifey aggro.............When I was dating my wife I was addicted to this game called "Everquest" or EverCrack if you will. She gave me the ultimatum thing, it's either me or the damn game, of course I went with the right choice and picked her. Now in marriage, she used to give me alot of grief about buying a 'widescreen' HDTV, but I told her she would like it, even though she didnt care for silver samsung that i got, she wanted something more appealing to the eye.
Then I had to sell her on a Optoma PJ, and she grumbled about that until she saw one of her fav movies or an NFL game on a 120" inch screen. It's like having four 60-inch plasma/lcd/dlp's stacked side by side. Some gals are a tougher sell than others.
Of course now she's having her doubts about the new HD channels coming, she's pissed that the current channels keep regurgitating the same content that they've been slinging the last several years............She wants her lame ABC soaps shot in HD, but only one currently does this and it's on another network(CBS's "Young & the Restless") Of course my spin is now the "Old & the restless", bring on the new HD already!!!!
Wifes/GF always looking over our shoulders, it gets annoying after awhile..........Why don't they just give in and let us have our way?!?!? I guess life would be too boring with that approach.....................

HGTV in HD... that's her quest.

There are a few of us that are just as (or slightly more) HD obsessed than our husbands. ;)
Sorry to hear that so many of you can't enjoy talking about the lastest and greatest electronics stuff with you wives and girlfriends. I'll be sure to remind my husband how lucky he is to have me.:D

And, as a child, we functioned as the remote control - get up, go to the tv, turn the channel dial, adjust rabbit ears.
My wife loves the HDTV, ans is always asking me when the new channels will be here.
She wishes she loved the new HR20-700 as much as she loved her Tivo though. That caused a lot of grief in the beginning.
Or maybe just maybe, it's time to get a new girlfriend... lol

Shouldn't you try a cutting edge release before you fully upgrade, though?
Take my advice, find a way to get her a computer.
that is gospel, right there...
I have told my wife that her favorite channels are going to be in HD. She's very stoked about it and keeps asking me when are the channels coming. Once we get those channels, I'm sure she won't object if I decide to get a HD television for the bedroom!

My wife is the same as most of yours, she is tried of hearing me talk about the HD channels. She does miss her TIVO, but she is slowly getting over it. Damn, I wish these new HD channels would get here.... I am checking this site and the TV almost every hour...

You are lazy I check it every minute my refresh buttonn is almost worn out:D
My wife records her shows in SD, even if they are on in HD. She doesn't want to go thru the hassle redoing her record list from SD to HD.

Sci-Fi rerun in HD?
Sorry it wasn't clear -- she watches all the latest shows on Sci-Fi channel. I only watch HD, so I only get the Sci-Fi reruns (a couple of years late usually) like Firefly, Startrek Enterprise, SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis on UHD, TNTHD or HDNet.
